Yum I love Redbreast 12, but that’s also because I love Single Pot Still Irish whiskey. The warm coppery malty flavor and aroma does something for me, it hits me just right. If you’re a fan of Irish whiskey, or just whiskey in general, do yourself a favor and at least try this at some point. I think you’ll be happy that you did. And while I haven’t substantiated that claim, if you take a look at its awards cabinet, you’ll find that it’s won Jim Murray’s Irish Whiskey of the Year, World’s Best Pot Still Whiskey, Best in Show at the SF World Spirits Competition, and probably 100 other superlative awards across the industry. Nose: On the first whiff, this whiskey bursts out of the gate with honey, lemon zest, and short crust pastry. Then as the whisky sits in the glass, rich stewed fruits arrive with a dollop of coconut and tangy cream. Orange zest, apples and pears. This is an incredible nose – one I would happily sit for hours and enjoy. However, this year marks Redbreast’s incorporation of Portugal’s beloved Douro Valley and the world of port. Released in March 2020, Redbreast 27 Year Old is the new, permanent addition to the line-up of Redbreast Lustau, 12, 15 and 21 Year Old.
