About this deal

This is where tile grout comes into play, providing a hard and water-repelling barrier against dirt and moisture. Grouting is a key part of the tile installation process. Aesthetically, it provides a beautifully smooth result and adds the finishing touch to your tiling job. Practically, it means you can enjoy long-lasting tiles that perform as they should, rather than becoming damaged by dirt, debris and water over time. If you choose to skip the tile grouting process, it can impact the integrity of the tile adhesive, causing them to come loose and need replacing. Fixing your tiles in place is just one part of the tiling process. They also need a finishing sealing application to provide them with the best possible protection to ensure they stay in situ and look their best for longer. After grouting with Mapei Kerapoxy, floors and walls should be cleaned immediately, before the product dries. Wet the surface thoroughly and emulsify with an abrasive pad for cleaning joints (such as Scotch-Brite or Kerakoll Cleaning Pads), making sure not to wash-out the joints. When cleaning walls, the cleaning pad should be fully soaked with water. The excess liquid can be removed with a hard cellulose sponge (e.g. Kerakoll Cellulose Sponge Float), and should be replaced when too full of resin. Use the same type of sponge for the final tooling of the grout. It is very important that once the finishing process has ended, no traces of Mapei Kerapoxy are left on the tile surface because it will be very difficult to remove. It is therefore necessary to frequently rinse the sponge with clean water during the cleaning process. When finishing large floor surface areas, use a rotary, disc-type power float with Scotch-Brite® abrasive pads, well saturated with water. All excess liquid can be removed with a rubber squeegee. The final cleaning cycle may be carried out using Mapei Ultracare Kerapoxy Cleaner for epoxy grout (special cleaning solution for epoxy grout). Mapei Kerapoxy Cleaner may also be used to remove thin residues of grout several hours after application. In such cases, the product must be left to react for longer (15-20 mins.). The efficiency of Mapei Kerapoxy Cleaner depends on the amount of resin residues and how much time has passed since application. Cleaning must always be carried out while “fresh” as described above.

The quantities are already in the correct proportions, therefore mistakes should not be made. Do not guess the quantities when mixing the two components. A wrong catalysis ratio could impair the hardening process.

For a solid all-in-one grout option, the Mapei Ultracolor Plus Grout boasts excellent water-repelling properties that arere suitable for tile joints of 2mm up to 20mm. It’s also polymer modified, anti-efflorescence and rapid setting - not to mention equipped with anti-mould and drop effect technology, helping to prevent moisture intrusion and erosion over time, wherever you use it. Finish off your home tiling project in style with industry leading Mapei Ultracolor Plus Jasmine Flexible tile grout. When resistance to acids or, where extreme cleanliness or sterile conditions are required, use a suitable acid-resistant epoxy grout. Mapei Ultracolor Plus Tile Grout is made up of a blend of special hydraulic binders, graded aggregates, special polymers, water repellent admixtures, organic molecules and pigments.

Mapei Ultracolor Plus does not contain Portland cement and must not be mixed with gypsum or other hydraulic binders; never add water to the mix once it has started to set. After the final cleaning operation, if the surface still has traces of Mapei Ultracolor Plus due to incorrect application, it may be cleaned down with an acidic cleaner (e.g. Keranet), by following the relevant instructions, at least 24 hours after grouting the joints. Only use Keranet on surfaces which are resistant to acid, and never use it on marble or limestone material. All Mapei grouts deliver premium performance, but they aren’t necessarily all equal. Some Mapei tile grouts boast different properties, making them better suited for use in particular environments. UniBond Ultra Force: these ready-mixed grouts make use of fibre technology for maximum durability, with top protection against moisture and mould to keep your grout looking its best for longer. Colour options include grey and navy blue, infused with glitter to bring sparkle to walls or floors tiled in porcelain, ceramic or natural stone Preparing the mix: While stirring, pour the Mapei Ultracolor Plus Grout powder into a clean, rust-free container containing 21-23% by weight of clean water. Mix the grout with a low-speed mixer to avoid air entrainment, until a smooth paste is obtained. Let the mix stand for 2-3 minutes, and stir again briefly before use. Use the mix within 20-25 minutes of its preparation.Mapei Ultracolor Plus is suitable for grouting walls and floors in areas that are subject to intense traffic, such as shopping centres, airports, restaurants and other public spaces. It is also suitable for residential use in all areas, such as facades, balconies, terraces and swimming pools. Prep the area: first and foremost, make sure the adhesive has fully dried, then carefully carve out any excess adhesive, tile spacers, dust and other debris between the tile joints, using a vacuum at the final stage to remove as much as possible. Apply the grout: load grout mixture onto your grout float and generously apply it to the gaps between the tiles. Using diagonal and firm strokes across the tile joints, make sure you press the grout fully into the grooves so it’s filled to the top and evenly distributed. To ensure complete coverage, we’d suggest applying grout to small areas, working your way logically along. Mapei Ultracolor Plus forms a smooth, compact finished surface with optimum resistance to abrasion, compression and flexural strength, and good resistance to acids with a pH > 3. Floors are ready for light foot traffic after approx. 3 hours. Surfaces grouted with Mapei Ultracolor Plus may be put into service after 24 hours. Basins and swimming pools may be filled up 48 hours after grouting. Acid-resistant bonding of tiles (used as an adhesive in compliance with class R2T specification according to EN 12004 standard).
