About this deal

Here’s an amazing little work light for all you DIY mechanics out there, or for those of you who are looking for a truly compact and portable model. With its pen-like design, barely noticeable 83 gram weight, and compact dimensions of 18.5 x 3.5 x 2cm, this is a work light that you can carry with you literally everywhere (well on land anyway). As promised, here is your guide to all things work light related. We will take the most important factors and features that all of the best work lights should have, explain why they are important, and point out a few things to look for while you are shopping for the model that fits your needs the best. Let’s get started shall we? Corded or cordless work lights The Fulighture Camping Lantern is an excellent product and one of the best camping lights for tents. It has an unusual design and three LED light panels that can be extended outwards in a triangular configuration. This allows you to cast light on a larger surface area. It also has two metal leg stands so it can be raised from the ground when used outdoors. Aluminium has been used for the metallic parts of the work light and this only helps to increase the longevity and durability of the product thanks to the material’s resistance to corrosion. This work light has been made to last and has a durable PVC and aluminium alloy shell. This can be mounted on the equally hard wearing elasticated nylon headband, and there is a good quality compact, hard carry case to keep it all in.

The size and portability of the light are also important. Oftentimes when camping, you have limited storage space. This is especially true if you are wild camping. As a result, consider how heavy the light is. Also, look at its overall dimensions, and if it has any features like a carry handle. Durability

Overall Take

I’m the author of the National Outdoor Book Award winning Long Trails Mastering the Art of the Thru-hike. My book has extensive gear chapters. I regularly book speaking gigs with outdoor clubs, non-profits, colleges, and universities to talk about the outdoors and lead gear panels. So it should not come as a surprise that while testing this work light, I dropped it more than once, and am very happy to say it didn’t seem to negatively affect it all. Top marks for robustness from me and my less than dexterous hands. This depends if you’re lightweight and / or wild camping. There are plenty of ultra light models on the market, with a premium price. The batteries are 18650 lithium ion batteries, and are the same ones that are commonly used in vape pens so it shouldn’t be too hard to find inexpensive replacements in the future. You should get plenty of life out of the first three though and a USB charging cable comes with the work light.

When I started researching lanterns, I found the price of the UST Duro to seem higher than necessary. But after looking at its competitors, its price is essentially the same as camping lanterns in this category. This LE work light has a lot of battery power, 3600mah, but it can be charged up to capacity in about 5-6 hours using the USB cable provided. Using the work light in full power mode with the front torch will only get you about 2 hours of continuous use, but turn it down onto 400 lumens and that extends to around 5 hours. Using the side lamp gives even more battery life with 6 hours on the brightest setting and up to 12 hours on the lowest. For lighting, it has a 100 lumen LED bulb. This is surrounded by a frosted globe casing that will help cast a gentle light in your tent. On the top of the light, there is also a durable metal handle. As a result, you can easily hang it from your tent frame. A Battery operated lantern tends to have the most extended battery life. But as we write in our Eco-friendly Gear guide, disposable batteries come with a long-term environmental cost from producing additional waste. If you ever find yourself stranded and need help, the SOS light on certain hand models will prove very useful.

This portable light uses 3D batteries(not included) as power supply, you can use it for walking dog, camping, hiking, emergency usage or other activities.

Money-Saving - Built-in 4400mAh lithium battery allows charging of the lantern via a USB cable. Environmentally friendly and has no need to spend money on batteries. It can also work as a power bank to charge your phone or laptop temporarily. But we found the amount of brightness coming out of such a small lantern to be less useful than the 1200 lumens on the UST 60-Day Duro. The larger UST lantern has a bigger globe, meaning those lumens are more useful for completing chores. The LE's light is also harsher, though you can reduce it to a lower yellow-orange setting that is gentler on the eyes. This side lamp has a third setting, the emergency SOS light, a flashing blue and red that resembles police or ambulance lights and is sure to attract attention should you break down at night on the motorway, or get injured while hiking in the wilderness.

We found that even high lumen smaller lights were less functional than bigger lanterns. In our Best Headlamps guide, we described this as the difference between floodlights and spotlights. Power source While we almost awarded the LE LED Camping lantern a spot as a budget lantern, ultimately, we were disappointed with the battery life. Those 3 heavy D batteries will get you 10 to 14 hours of light on the LE LED camping lantern. The same batteries would last 60 days (or more than 1400 hours) on the UST 60-day Duro. Money-saving: Built-in 4400mAh lithium battery allows charging of the lantern via a USB cable. Environmentally friendly and no need to spend money on batteries. It can also work as a power bank to charge your phone or laptop temporarily. What’s more, this camping lantern is extremely durable and comes with a waterproof rating of IPX5 which means it will resist water jets and repel dust. It features fast charging and can be used with either a lithium ion battery or alkaline batteries. However, neither of these are included.

You also need to know how much use you will get out of a fully charged battery, and what factors affect this. For example, models with different brightness settings will last for longer on the lower settings, sometimes much longer. By adopting qualified silicone at the bottom, the light is skid resistance. You can put it on a desk to light up your room without worrying about the light slips off to the ground.
