Winston the mouse is on a Very Important Mission. On Christmas Eve, he finds a letter to Father Christmas that did not make it to the post box – so, with no time to lose, he sets out to deliver it himself in time for Christmas Day! He has a lot of Very Exciting Adventures on his Very Important Mission and makes some wonderful friends along the way. This book is divided into chapters that can be read each day in December, finishing the story on Christmas Day. Each chapter includes a Christmas activity, craft, game, or event that you can do for some festive fun every day in December. The crafts look really enjoyable, and the instructions are simple. These would be such fun activities to do together with the whole family during the holiday season!

The busy bustling shops, the glitzy decorations, the waiting and then of course the big day itself! The advent calendar chapters. There are 25 chapters, which means children can read one a day in December. I've never seen anything like that before, and I thought it was really smart and sweet. I didn't read it like that but, especially for children, that's a lovely option. Written in twenty-four-and-a-half chapters, one to enjoy each day in the lead up to christmas, each chapter includes it’s very own festive activity for all the family to enjoy together – including writing a letter to Father Christmas, making mince pies, designing your very own Christmas cards, making presents, creating decorations, and so much more! The plot was quite simplistic but that's to be expected from a children's book. I still enjoyed it a fair amount.I've always loved winter. All those frosty mornings and getting cosy after being outside in the cold. And when December arrives Christmas magic is in the air! That was fun! Did you notice it's all different stamps? Can we read it again, right away? Winston is soooo cute and adorable! Let's read it again before Christmas; let's read it in Advent. You know, I'd like to make the pet robin today because the pet robin isn't a Christmas thing one single bit. Delivery with Standard Australia Post usually happens within 2-10 business days from time of dispatch. Winston braves a busy intersection, a cat, a rat, an airplane flight, and a blizzard before he ultimately collides with Santa's sleigh and delivers the letter. Divided into 25 chapters, How Winston Delivered Christmas is paced perfectly for bedtime each night of December through Christmas. You could read them during the day, but we found the chapters an ideal balance of excitement, wind-down, and length for our night routine.

Alex has captured all the sights and smells of Christmas with the most delicious descriptions and sumptuous illustrations, the story is a feast for all senses. The dolls house, which plays an important role in the story, is absolutely beautiful and the gingerbread castle in the bakery is awesome but my favourite illustration shows Winston in the stable with Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. From Alex T. Smith, bestselling author of the Claude series, comes How Winston Came Home for Christmas – the festive sequel to the much-loved How Winston Delivered Christmas. Full of gorgeous colour artwork and Christmassy activities, this second Winston adventure is sure to become a Christmas classic to be enjoyed year after year. Tips for next Christmas, a selection of carols and our favourite Christmas poem come at the end of the book, Alex really has thought of everything – this is the ultimate Christmas handbook! How Winston Delivered Christmas isn’t just a story book and abeautifully illustrated index introduces us to chapter headings and a daily activity. Every day there are instructions for baking, making gifts or other Christmas crafts to keep children busy throughout December. Christmassy recipes include gingerbread mice, stained glass windows and ideas for making your own party food and there are so many great seasonal activities. I love the ideas for Random Acts of Kindness at Christmas and enjoyed reading about International Christmas Traditions. A Christmas Scavenger Hunt sounds fun and my favourite crafts are Make a PomPom Robin and Make Christmas Fairy Peg-Dolls, they’re the kind of crafts that I enjoyed as a child. How Winston Delivered Christmas – An Advent Story in twenty-four-and-a-half chapters is a beautifully illustrated story to read in the countdown to Christmas. Winston, a poor, hungry little mouse, is a determined character who is on an important mission to deliver a letter to Father Christmas. But it’s not an easy task, first he needs to find a way to locate The North Pole…Each chapter includes it's very own festive activity for all the family to enjoy together – including writing a letter to Father Christmas, making mince pies, designing your very own Christmas cards, making presents, creating decorations, and so much more! I'm aware I'm not the target audience for this book so haven't been harsh about the plot or characters (both of which are fairly simplistic). Even though Christmas is over, I can't say that this didn't help spread a shred of Christmas spirit or cheer. However, once you realise that the mouse could have just posted the letter again after it flew out of the letterbox and have avoided so much trouble and near death experiences, the story takes a boring toll. The sense of adventure isn't too keen as Winston makes acquaintances with some pigeons, a cat and a rat. They try to help him but all fail miserably as the poor mouse desperately tries to deliver a letter to Father Christmas.

From Alex T. Smith, bestselling author of the Claude series, comes How Winston Delivered Christmas – the irresistible story of the brave little mouse who sets out on an adventure on Christmas Eve . Featuring beautiful colour artwork from the author and Christmassy activities to make-and-do throughout, t his irresistibly gorgeous book is sure to become a festive family tradition that will be enjoyed year after year.
