About this deal

I think the only thing I would’ve liked more of is Cardan and Jude together. There is some, but this story is primarily about Cardan and how he grew up. Even the part set after Queen of Nothing doesn’t have enough of them together, but he does try to outwit and outplan her. Classic Cardan.

Cardan is such a fun character and reading from his perspective provided all new insight into his decisions and motivations. I love him now more than ever.

Need Help?

From the very first chapter to the last, I COULD NOT put this series down for more than an hour. It had me reading until 3:00am for days on end to finish it, and I have since read everything two more times because I was so utterly depressed when I finished it. Mi chiedo se la blatta lo avrebbe fatto. Mi chiedo cosa voglia dire che il Fantasma lo abbia fatto. Lo guardo e non so cosa vedere.” I already know that this is going to be my most disappointing book of the year. If you know me or have at least seen some of my pre-book updates, you know how obsessive I was over this book, and I was freaking out over every single little detail. I LITERALLY CRIED WHEN I DIDN'T GET THE BOOK IN THE MAIL WHEN I WAS SUPPOSED TO (to be fair, I wasn't in the best place before that and not getting the book just made it even worse). I am also completely indifferent towards Suren/Wren. She does have a personality, an interesting one at that, but she also annoyed me, which I suppose is better than feeling nothing. The ending especially made me want to scream- she's bloodthirsty sure, but she can NEVER beat Jude. NO ONE beats Jude. I was so angry with her at the end that it literally ruined it for me, which is because I'm an extreme moodreader and let my emotions control me way too much. I must admit though, I felt terrible for her at times. What she had to go through was something no one should ever have to go through. Ah yes but I LOVED the stories Aslog would tell Cardan.😂 The lessons at the end . . . ahahaha definitely what you should tell kids at nighttime. I actually really liked them.

How he was given Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that Jude comes across in his room in The Cruel Prince. And how this lead to him liking human tales, being surprised by their imaginations, and collecting more human books. usually, books i give this type of rating to end up being the recipient of my all-consuming loathing it stirred within me. but this was so bland that i can’t even really detail every which way this flopped. Jude, acting as Queen, tries to formulate how to maintain her rule against Madoc's threat and solve Cardan's curse. Madoc and the Court of Teeth offer Jude the gift of a golden bridle that would be able to control Cardan. She later learns that they gave her incorrect instructions on how to use it, which would have tied her to the snake and left Madoc in control. A plan is made for Jude to capture the snake, but instead of putting the bridle on him, she cuts the snake's head off. The second part of the prophecy – only out of his spilled blood can a great ruler rise – is fulfilled when Cardan, in his original form, emerges from the pool of the snake's blood. In the Epilogue, Cardan and Jude are crowned and they banish Madoc to live in the human world. When they return to Heather’s apartment, they watch a movie about a terrible family in a big, old house and the beautiful and clever nurse who inherits everything." Having only recently stopped playing the villain, Cardan thinks again of the winding path of decisions that brought him to this unlikely place, here with her, racing over the sky, planning to end trouble instead of making more of it.I'd like to take a moment to thank this book: You have raised my expectations for love so high (I now want to be transported to a Fae realm and get thrown into a river by a hot and mysterious Fae prince who hates that he loves me.) and you have taught me so much about myself (why do I like his tail) and life. update: just a reminder there's just under 3 weeks left until RELEASE DATE!! judecardan stans how WE FEELING? When I began reading, I expected a prequel to the series showing Cardan’s early life. However it is not exactly that, or not only that. It is a kind of surround-quel. Some of what is recounted here does indeed occur before The Cruel Prince. However, some of it occurs after The Queen of Nothing. Thus we get a little look at married life with Jude and Cardan. I had predicted that they were not the types to settle down into quiet contentment, and in that I was not wrong. It was satisfying. And some of this book recounts the events of The Folk of the Air from Cardan’s point-of-view. Una delle soddisfazioni più grandi, secondo me, per un lettore è quella di iniziare un libro con aspettative bassissime e rimanerne meravigliato. Questo è quello che è successo con “Il principe crudele”.
