About this deal

Hunger can be motivating. Make sure your baby has at least a bit of hunger motivation at the meal by separating out breast or bottle-feeds from table feeds by at least 60 minutes. If your baby is 9+ months old, you may separate them even more (by 2-3 hours) to see if this helps. This is a great cup to use when you are starting to feed your child solids and they are ready to learn how to drink from a cup.

Talking to your pediatrician about your child’s transition to drinking from a cup may be helpful as well as each child follows their own timeline. Choosing the Honey Bear Straw Cup This worked so well and so fast for my stubborn little guy who did not want to drink from straws! So glad I came across this product! Definitely recommend for anyone having trouble:) It took about a day for him to trust the bear, but once he got the hang of it, he loved it! He is now drinking so well! I love that I can adjust the flow and slowly (eventually) make the flow more so we can kind of wean him off such a slow flow. Thank you times a MILLION ARK Therapeutics! I've even been able to share this with someone else who's toddler is struggling with drinking! Made from medical grade materials that are FDA compliant - free from BPA, latex, lead, phthalates and PVC

Come back when you're older

Step 2: Sit down, smile at your baby to catch their attention, and then bring the cup to your mouth to take a small sip. (You can use the same cup if you are comfortable with that or two cups, one for you and one for baby. Just make sure you are drinking out of the same looking cup.) Spoon Tip - Great for feeding therapy and mealtimes, these attachments turn the Z-Vibe into a vibrating spoon! The smooth, gentle vibration can help "wake up" the mouth and decrease aversions. The textured version has bumps on the bottom of the spoon bowl to help stimulate the tongue and lower lip, and to help encourage the transition from puréed to more solid foods. The hard Spoon Tip is rigid, like a regular spoon. The soft Spoon Tip is flexible (still firm enough to hold food, but flexible enough to be gentle on the teeth if someone bites down on the spoon. Bite Tube Tip - These tips are similar to the Bite-n-Chew Tip, but with a hollow center so that you can put puréed foods (applesauce, yogurt, etc.) inside the tip for functional biting & chewing practice. Once you bite down on the tip, you get 'rewarded' with a taste of food. |ARK's Bear Bottle Kit is a fun and friendly way to make drinking easier for beginners and/or children with oral motor difficulties. It's also an excellent way to transition babies straight from bottles to straw drinking - skipping sippy cups altogether! Many speech therapists believe that sippy cups can promote improper tongue positioning and an immature swallowing pattern, while straw drinking can help strengthen the mouth muscles and encourage tongue retraction, cheek tension, lip closure, and proper oral positioning. Encourage them to drink from it frequently and monitor the straw’s cleanliness, replacing it if you notice any signs of wear or tear.

The Bear Bottle holds approximately 8 ounces of fluid (225ml). The bottle measures approximately 2" x 2.5" x 6" (5cm x 6cm x 15cm) Kary Rappaport, a Solid Starts feeding specialist, teaches her daughter Lucy, 7 months, how to drink from a straw with the pipette method. Straw trainer method There are many sippy cups on the market—soft spouts, firm spouts, with handles, or without handles. But, as feeding specialists, we have to reiterate that we don’t love sippy cups and instead recommend you focus on straw cups when on-the-go or in need of a mess-free meal. Why? Sippy cups encourage your baby to use their tongue in a way that is not ideal for cup or straw drinking. Plus, as soon as your baby masters a sippy cup, it’s time to conquer more mature cup skills, which adds an unnecessary step (and expense) to the process. Fine Tip - This tip narrows down to a fine point, which makes it perfect for pinpointing very specific areas in the mouth.

Confirm your age

Now, before you tear through your kitchen and trash your sippy cups or worry you’ve irreparably damaged your child, we just want to point out that using a sippy cup will not damage your child and likely have zero noticeable impact. In fact, one of our staff feeding therapists occasionally used sippy cups with both of her kids because she already had them and they were spill-proof. While sippy cups may not be ideal for oral motor skill development, babies are incredibly flexible and resilient. The reason why I like it is because you can squeeze the honey bear’s tummy which will make the liquid come up almost to the top, making it easier for your child to get their drink out! Make drinking easier for beginners or those with oral motor difficulties ARK’s Bear Bottle is recommended for individuals who tend to aspirate or have difficulties generating and maintaining suction. The goal in the 6- to 12-month age range is to practice the skills of cup drinking—not to replace the breast or bottle. Starting open cup practice early (ideally around 6 months of age) allows your baby plenty of low-pressure time to hone cup skills before transitioning off bottles or breastfeeds. If you’ve missed this window and your baby is now 12 months or older, all is not lost! Your 12+-month-old still has time to learn this skill! Which cup should I use for my baby?
