About this deal

Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). Despite the fact that I did not review it this time around, a bottle of Glenfarclas 15-year-old in my liquor cabinet currently suffers from a case of sulfuritis (although, thankfully, it is not evident on the nose). Often, sulfur can lessen over the course of time. I’m willing to bet that the fairly strong “gun powder” will gradually fade (my bottle was opened a mere six weeks ago).

Glenfarclas describe their whisky as ‘Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky’ which might confuse some when they learn that the distillery is actually located in Ballindalloch in Speyside – traditionally the Highland region embraced what is now delineated as Speyside and, deep-down, Glenfarclas is still a very traditional distillery. These old time values still have some modern day benefit for whisky lovers - Glenfarclas bottings present unfussy low-key branding which eschew the current trend for marketing-driven label twaddle. This cookie is set by Rubicon Project to control synchronization of user identification and exchange of user data between various ad services. Glenfarclas is synonymous with ageing its whisky in oak casks. The distillery takes great pride in its extensive range of aged expressions, some of which have matured for several decades. Allowing the whisky to absorb the rich flavours and character of the wood. This meticulous ageing process imparts a depth and complexity to Glenfarclas whiskies, making them highly sought after by connoisseurs worldwide.

With Water: A few drops of water give this some of the sweetness that it’s yearning for, and freshens some of the fruit. It lessens the tongue burn very slightly, and adds a little vanilla frosting to the finish. Water is decidedly not a bad idea with this whisky.First references to the Glenfarclas distillery were found before 1791. In 1836 it was granted a license. At that time, it was owned by Robert Hay. It was then bought by John Grant in 1865 and today is still owned by the Grant family.
