About this deal

If you think that sounds clever, it gets even better than that. As you run that course the watch will display your target pace at any given point, changing as you run to incorporate elevation and how fast you’ve been running already. You’ll get a handy timing figure that tells you how many seconds below or above you are from hitting your target time and a graphic to show how much of the split you’ve got left. On a run, it typically goes up and down, so that it can be hard to keep the same pace throughout the distance. Some kilometers will be faster (downhill) and some kilometers will be slower (uphill). PacePro calculates the altitude profile of the route and tells you exactly how fast you should be running each section of the route to reach your goal. Garmin Fenix 6X has the largest screen and the longest battery life. Garmin Fenix 6S has the smallest screen and the shortest battery life. Garmin Fenix 6 is in between.

They offer the same sports modes, largely the same level of training insights, and features like daily suggested workouts and a recovery advisor, full-color mapping support and there are pretty much the same wellness monitoring features on board here too. Garmin Fenix 6 also comes with recommended recovery times, which can help you avoid straining your body too much. Its rugged design and durability means I’ve been able to use it during all my regular outdoors activities with no fear of it being damaged by the elements. The Fenix is an outdoor watch first, but Garmin like the rest of the watches in its range feels more smartwatch-like in operation. The 6X features Garmin's latest Elevate optical heart rate sensor tech. That tech is used for offering continuous heart rate monitoring, richer sleep data, and a way to measure your workout intensity. While continuous HR monitoring was good on the whole, we'd still opt to pair it up with a chest strap monitor for intense exercise, as the optical sensor still struggles. Garmin will always be known as a sports watch first, but it continues to improve its abilities as a smartwatch. However, it though will significantly impact battery life compared to standard GPS (although still above 20 hours). We didn't find real-time stamina a breakthrough, but it could evolve to be a useful feature for ensuring your pace long runs properly – but we don't feel it's compatible with the way most runners train.

Keeping an eye on your SATs can be essential when in the high mountains as it can help determine how well your body’s acclimatising to higher altitudes. For example, if your SATs drop to a dangerous level while you’re ascending, the Fenix 6X Pro can warn you before you push your body to a potentially dangerous limit. Mapping You've also got Garmin's Body Battery energy monitor on both watches, and the Fenix 7 will additionally offer a health snapshot to let you measure for heart rate, stress, respiration rate, and blood oxygen from a single measurement. There's notification support across the board for iOS and Android users with the latter having the ability to respond to some notifications too.

On the Fenix 7, you can see graphs to see whether predicted times are improving or declining, which is much more interesting and motivating. The Fenix 6X Pro comes with an impressive range of mapping already built into its 32GB internal storage. We’ve always found that Garmin nails things in the mapping department, and this is certainly true with this timekeeper. Different watches in the Fenix 6 and 7 lines carry different price tags, with the basic models costing less than those with Sapphire crystal or Power Glass. However, all new Fenix 7 watches are more expensive than their older counterparts.

The Garmin Fenix 6 doesn’t introduce any software features that drastically set it apart from the previous year’s Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, but rather a number of tweaks and adjustments which all help make the watch more intuitive than before. At one end of the scale, you have information like steps and sleep, on the other end you have those features based on blood oxygen and aerobic/anaerobic training effect. Garmin also offers full connection to Bluetooth headphones, such as the Jaybird Vista, with the Fenix 6X Pro – ideal if you’re heading out for a short run. Garmin Connect The dashboard as standard covers the bulk of the data stored by the watch – although you can customize it based on your own preferences. Standard features here include weather, sunset info, training status, a compass, VO2 Max, last activity, steps, heart rate, Pulse Ox, calendar info, notifications from your phone, music, altimeter, and stress. It’s extremely user-friendly and easy to modify.

PacePro is a training tool that combines several features within the watch to act as a sort of coach when you’re out running. The watches in the Garmin Fenix 6 collection are ultradurable and have been tested in regard to military standards (MIL-STD-810G). Garmin believe that the watches can be certified at the highest standard when it comes to Height (Low Pressure), Rain, Humidity, Drop and Freeze/Thaw. (At this time, the test has yet to be finished). We'll start with the Fenix 6 series, which on the bezel front offers stainless steel, titanium, or diamond-like carbon-coated titanium options. The titanium offers a noticeable weight reduction but does come at a higher price. The Fenix 7 series offers stainless steel, stainless steel PVD, and titanium DLC options. Garmin Fenix 6 is equipped with a barometric altitude meter and a 3-axis compass, which is automatically calibrated, so that you are always sure that you have the most accurate information about your current position and direction.
