About this deal

Key specs – Age range : Suitable for 0 to 4 years, or 22kg; Wheels : Swivel front wheel, 16-inch rear wheels; Folded Dimensions : 87 x 69 x 34cm; Weight : 11.4kg There are some natty design features, like the adjustable footrest hiding a handy sun-shade and the ventilation net hidden behind the UPF 50 + hood. Improvements over the original Egg include larger, higher seat, easier-to-adjust harness, bigger basket size (although I would like even bigger) and new bigger wheels. With additional parts, it can also be converted into a tandem buggy. The Bugaboo Fox 3 is made for all terrains, so it comes with large puncture-proof wheels (measuring 12in on the rear and 8.5in on the front) and a central-joint suspension. This helps the pram absorb any bumps on roads and paths while feeling featherlight and agile on curbs and steps. It’s also made from durable yet water-repellent materials with a metal frame that give the pushchair a premium feel and a weight of just 9.5kg. The metal frame is self-standing so folds down compactly and can also be collapsed with the carrycot or main seat attached. It also has a few different configurations, so baby can be sat forward facing or towards you.

Sustainability has also been at the forefront of the design process, with the travel system crafted using premium-quality materials and a PFAS-free, water-repellent fabric coating. Meanwhile, the handlebar grips are finished in 100% vegan leather; the main pram is also manufactured using bio-based materials, which help to reduce CO2 emissions by 20%. Bugaboo Fox 5 Review: Verdict Your little one sits high up in the Next and its impressive all-terrain wheels, made of foam-filled rubber, are sturdy and chariot-like. I felt a comfort in knowing my daughter was further away from nipping dogs and car exhausts. In upright mode it’s designed to be table-height, which is jolly helpful in restaurants without high-chairs, but the seat can also recline to near flat (there are 5 positions in total). The Fox is a pram that has consistently been named as a favourite among mums I spoke to. My expert Millie counts herself a ‘die-hard fan’. I had my issues with its the Fox 3, which was fiddly to assemble, fold and adjust, but have been completely won over by its successor, the Fox 5.

The Bugaboo Fox 5 will transport your little one in style and comfort from their very first day to toddlerhood

Now I'm going to talk a bit about the frame of the pram so you'll have to bear with me but I think it deserves extra attention. The frame is made of a mixture of plastics and metal with the plastics covering the joints. Now I have a personal preference for metal because the plastic usually feels cheap and flimsy but with the Bugaboo Fox 5, this isn't the case at all. It feels really well put together and very sturdy. This real-life testing means we can highlight any areas that could prove problematic, or where a product truly shines. In addition, such testing allows us to more accurately categorise each travel system according to people’s different needs, such as storing in a small space, carrying up a flight of stairs, or navigating a muddy sports field. Finally, we include details such as the age range for which each travel system is suitable, the type of wheels it has, and its dimensions.

I can’t fault this pram for its general performance; it’s so lightweight and pleasurable to use. My son is now nearly two years old, so in some pushchairs he can feel a little heavy, but this wasn’t the case with the Fox 5. The one-hand fold works really well, although note that the large all-terrain wheels mean that it takes up quite a bit of space in the boot or when storing away. Judging by this model they’ve come on leaps and bounds on the style front. All leatherette handle-bar and nicely padded grey flannel seat. But for me, the real joy of this Joie is its shopping basket. It’s high-sided and huge, the largest I have come across in six years of pram-pushing. The Fox 5 chassis can be folded to compact one-piece self standing position not only with the seat unit but also with the carrycot. This improved functionality makes this large pram more convenient to store and transport. I have to confess I am a Joie fan. The brand doesn’t have the star power of an Egg or a Bugaboo, but it is eminently practical. No nonsense, not too many frills and an easy run around. The assembly was straight-forward, it was relatively light and easy to manoeuvre and it folds down easily.

Bugaboo Fox 5: how we tested

We really liked that the main bundle comes with everything you need to get started, including a carrycot, seat unit, chassis, removable ‘Pip-Zip’ bag, car seat adaptors and elevator adaptors. But you can also add on lots of personalised extras, such as the matching baby bag, footmuff and liner and cup holder, to really make it your own.

Key specs – Age range: Suitable from birth to 22kg max; Wheels: Front swivel wheels; Folded dimensions: 32 x 52 x 65cm (LWH); Unfolded dimensions: 77-87 x 106-110cm (LH); Weight: 8.8kg (without canopy, armbar and insert) Key specs – Age range: Suitable from birth to 25kg; Wheels: Puncture-proof, ultra-smooth rolling PU tyres; Folded Dimensions: No wheels (cm) L70 x W54 x D28; Weight: 12.9kg We tested the Peach with the carrycot and as a forward-facing pushchair. We assembled it hassle-free, since the instructions actually made sense (for once we didn’t need to resort to a YouTube video) and the newborn happily nodded off cocooned in the plush olive-green bassinet. The mattress comes with a breathable mesh - perfect for safe sleep on the go.

What we don’t like

Key specs – Age range : Suitable for 0 years to 22kg in weight; Wheels : All-terrain wheels; Folded dimensions : 83.5 x 51.5 x 31.5cm; Unfolded dimensions : 92-83 x 60 x 98.5-108cm; Weight : 12.6kg This Tetris-like capability, combined with its intuitive design, chunky wheels and all-terrain manoeuvrability made it foolproof to set up and a dream to navigate. Unlike other models, many of its nimble switches can be performed one-handed (detaching the bassinet, for example, and adjusting the seat’s multi-position recline) and its one-motion folding function is swift and smooth. Not necessarily. You could instead choose to buy a separate pushchair with a carrycot, a stroller, a third-party car seat – or any combination of products that works for you. The appeal of a travel system is integration and the convenience that it brings. We absolutely love the brand-new exclusive Astro Purple sun canopy, this bold colour is sure to turn heads!
