About this deal

There are generally two types of repair stands: those that use a clamping mechanism there are those that use a clamping mechanism to secure the bike by pretty much any tube you choose to fix them to. Within those categories, there are portable and permanent stands and basic models versus those for the pros.

Clamping a bike by the seatpost can mean having to move the post to secure enough 'real estate' for the clamp – risking misalignment of the saddle, returning it to the wrong height or ultimately stripping the clamp bolts through repeated tightening/loosening. With modern bike-fit principles setting seat height to within fractions of a millimetre, you don't want to be getting this wrong... Bike work stands come in a couple of different styles. The seatpost/top tube clamp style stand is far more popular and the more common of the two. These types of stands have large curved jaws that clamp around the seatpost, seat tube, or top tube of your frame. They hold the bike suspended in the air so you can work on any part of it and also turn the pedals. Clamp-style models typically feature adjustments for height and clamp angle to suit your preferences or the repair at hand. Clamp-style stands are generally relatively simple and user-friendly and can accommodate virtually every type of bike and various sizes and shapes of tubing. Home mechanic work stands are typically portable and collapse down to a convenient small size for storage and travel. If the option for Financing or one or more of the monthly terms are not shown, then unfortunately you are not eligible to apply for that finance type at this time. Pay in 3 instalments

These stands often include a tool holder. But here the holder comes equipped with an integrated magnetic compartment and a telescopic arm that holds the handlebars in place when you do repairs on the front wheel. However, if you’re a mechanic, who’ll be using their repair stand on a daily basis, on lots of different bikes (or your a weekend mechanic who’s not particularly cost conscious), then it makes sense to spend more. This repair stand generally provides excellent stability and balance for heavier bike frames. For lighter carbon fiber bikes, it’s a little more prone to tipping and finding the centre of balance can be a bit more fiddly. Overall Verdict Yaheetech Bicycle Maintenance Stand is the most robust stand on the list. The model is able to support the heaviest (up to 40 kilograms) loads, meaning there isn't a mountain bike out there that the stand won't be able to hold. The heavy-duty structure, as well as the 4-legged base, work wonders securely supporting and grabbing the bicycle, making it easier to repair and clean your bike.

If you don’t need a portable repair stand and you have either a suitable workbench or wall space, then a mounted repair stand could be a good option. When it comes to repair stands E-MTBs come with one big disadvantage: they’re heavy. Generally at least 10 kg heavier than any conventional bike. For obvious structural reasons repair stands are subjected to strong leverage forces and the additional weight of an E-MTB with its heavy battery and motor can become an issue with conventional repair-stands. The tubing has to be robust enough to cope with the extra load and the structural design capable of resisting stronger leverage forces. Finally all of the height- and angle- adjustment-clamps on the main head need to be strong enough to hold the bike in place and prevent it from twisting around or sliding down. This explains why our test features models with a certified load capacity of at least 25 kg. Our test bike weighs 23.5 kg. Well-featured throughout, the lever on the main clamp is particularly nice, spinning to tighten before finishing with a cam-style flip to allow for easy attachment of the bicycle. Once mounted into the stand, retention of the bike is relatively solid, as is the stability provided by the three mid-length legs.

What is a Bike Work Stand?

Are you in the market for the best new bike work stand? We researched over 25 models before purchasing 9 for side-by-side testing and comparison. If you're an avid rider or an aspiring or serious home mechanic, you already know that a quality repair stand is one of the best additions to your home or travel workspace. We tested each work stand for months in our home workshops and on the road to determine their strengths and weaknesses and, most importantly, how they compare to each other. Our first-hand testing brings you these recommendations to help you find the right model to suit your needs and budget.

There are thousands of bike repair stands to choose from on the market, but many won’t be suited for use with an electric bike. Also, it’s maximum weight capacity is 25kg, so it won’t work for heavier electric bike models. Overall Verdict Automatic stopping system with a build in safety feature to keep technician and bicycle on the stand safe Ibera Bicycle Stand is, as you can probably tell from the pictures, a little different. This isn't what we would call a bike work stand. The model isn't designed for the frame. It will just be able to support the rear wheel. As you would imagine, it comes with its advantages and disadvantages compared to every other model here. Undertaking as many of these maintenance and repair jobs as possible yourself will save you the inconvenience and costs associated with always heading to your local bike repair shop.

So I would say, if you want something that’s a significant upgrade on the Bike Hand stand, in all respects, you probably need to spend twice as much.
