About this deal

Located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, Dublin’s historic distilling district, Teeling opened in 2015 and is part of the area’s vibrant whiskey revival. Those with more experienced palates will find it smooth and easy to nurse. It’s also nice and affordable and widely available online and in-store.

Based in Kilbeggan in County Westmeath, their double-distilled blended whiskey features a good body with honeyed sweetness and malt while the finish is short with oaked dryness. Despite the temporary closure of licenced premises due to Covid-19 impacting the on-trade market, combined sales of both brands for the year topped 900,000 bottles for the first time, taking the total bottles sold since their launch in 2017 to over 2.5 million in more than 25 markets. The below points may seemobvious, but they’re worth being aware of before you make a booking (especially point 1). 1. Whiskey tours vs distillery tours A smooth and balanced sip is on offer here with notes of citrus, nutmeg, apple and malt. There are plenty of reasons for seeking out a bottle of West Cork. Dubliner’s Global Brand Manager, Darren Mooney, adds, “Paying homage to our hometown, this fresh design aims to reflect the vibrant modern Dublin we know and love. Our aim was to create something bold, bright, and beautiful that can also be accessible. Whiskey is a great vehicle for bringing people together and, too often, old school tactics like confusing jargon and secret clubs can exclude people. Whiskey isn’t just for old, rich guys.” SHARE WITH: Those who are interested in trying an entry level Irish whiskey or those who may like a blend of malt and grain Irish whiskies. You’ll learn about the history of the drink from a very energetic guide, and you’ll get to sample a number of different whiskies, which helps you get a gauge of what you like and what you don’t.

With water sourced from the River Bush and named after the mills that made the Barley, Bushmills is an Irish whiskey icon. The Dubliner Irish Whiskey’s position as one of the fastest-growing brands in the category worldwide is all the more impressive given the continued strong growth of Irish Whiskey globally; this success can be attributed to the brand’s appealing flavour profiles and to its links to Dublin – the brand’s home and a city renowned for its charm and good cheer. The quality of the range was recently re-affirmed when The Dubliner 10 Year Old was the only Irish Whiskey to be awarded a gold medal in this year’s Whiskies of the World competition. We’ve had a lot of questions over the years asking about everything from ‘What is the best Irish whiskey for newbie drinkers?’ to ‘What are some good top shelf Irish whiskey drinks?’. Double distilled, this is one of a handful of Irish whiskey brands that manages to deliver both a complex and approachable flavour profile, which is no mean feat! One of the unique things about this lesser-spotted drop is that each bottle is individually numbered and signed by the Master Distiller, and sold in an accompanying wooden display case. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products.

I had heard from many that Writer’s Tears was ‘one you get used to with time’, but I found their single pot to be very drinkable, despite not being too-fond of whiskeys with long finishes. In the midst of Irish whiskey’s modern transformation, pot still offers a direct link to its past. Its roots lie in commercial pragmatism: in 1785, the British government introduced a tax on malted barley, so Irish distillers started using a proportion of unmalted barley in production, thus saving money – but, inadvertently at first, adding flavour. Pot still whiskey – single pot still if originating from one distillery – has an unmistakable character: a silky, sometimes positively oily texture along with a punchy, tangy basket of spiced fruits. It finds its most eloquent expression in Redbreast – a great survivor of Irish whiskey’s boom-bust years – and in the coloured Spot family of single pot still releases.

Our World

Often referred to as ‘Christmas Whiskey’ because of the fruit sherry casks that it is kept in, its tasting notes include hints of marzipan, dried fruits and spices. Triple distilled and carefully crafted using the finest of local ingredients, this one is matured in bourbon casks and is a fine single malt if you can get your hands on it. Part of Mitchell’s ‘spot’ range, it’s been on sale continuously since the early 1900s but now its reach is global and thus (thankfully for us!) far more widely available.

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. This 2-hour tour takes your tastebuds on a food and drink adventure to Bowes (they do the best Guinness in Dublin) and the very beautiful and very old Palace Bar. Master Distiller Darryl McNally will shortly move to a new consultancy role within the business, as he pursues other opportunities in the global whiskey industry. Since joining The DLD, Darryl has expertly trained a team of distillers to continue to produce quality single malt Irish whiskey. A showstopper thanks to the effortless complexity that comes with age. Tropical fruit, spice, honey and vanilla, alongside a silky texture that lasts and lasts. Expensive? Yes. A great whiskey? Also yes. Alcohol 46.2%
