Rain protection for garden dining, parties and wedding. The distance between the fitments should match the size of your sail . Adjustments can be made to a certain degree with the type and amount of fitments and/rope you decide to use, but the closer you can get to the right size, the better.

The height of the posts will also play a factor. Remember that you must install your sail at an angle of 20-30 degrees (depending on the size of the sail) to allow any rainwater to run off. Where some posts are higher than others, a diagonal line will be involved which will change the length of your measurement. Once you have your fixing points, posts and fixtures all in place and secure, then its time to bring out the shade!

There are two important measurements when installing a shade sail. First, the distance between the fitments, and second, the height of the posts. Head over to our blog on how to install a Clara Shade Sail to find out more details about how to install your sail :) Which side of the shade sail faces out? I was a bit sceptical about how successful this shade would be for my conservatory, especially as it is smaller than the roof space, but I was pleasantly surprised and relieved that it's dropped the temperature a few degrees which makes our conservatory a much more bearable place to sit when it's sunny . I wish that I'd bought one years ago now!"We have a large lantern roof over a garden room. During sunny weather if can get pretty hot and we needed some shade. I found that 3 of the 2m shades were just right to give an interesting shade effect."

See our blog on taking care of your Clara Shade Sail for more information on how to look after your sail. In this short video, I show you exactly how I bring out and put up my own Clara Shade Sail early summer each year. I think you will be very surprised by how simple it is and the hooks I use are just simple screw in hooks available from the usual hardware/DIY stores. Please install with seams facing down and allow a 20-30 degree angle between at least two corners so your sail is installed properly on a slant. This will ensure the rain water doesn't pool in the middle and cause the material to stretch unnecessarily. The height of the posts will also play a factor. CHOICE OF INSTALLATION Other ideas, which you would need to investigate and use at your own risk (as we haven't tested them – please note!) is to get some bolt down metal plates which your post can fit into – this might work if you want to secure directly to stone-ground or patio. Another idea might be to look into some of the fence post spikes that are on the market, installing at a slight angle away from the sail or using ratchet tie-down straps may help support the posts if the spikes are subject to a bit of movement. Either way with both these alternative options you will need to consider whether they will be strong enough to take any pull from the sail. Fixtures
