With the RC 300 you get just 3 hours of total recording time. Not a lot when compared to the 13 hours you get with the RC 600!! The RC-600 is the most feature-filled loop station covered in this guide. It surpasses the now-ancient RC-300 in many ways as well as introducing new features not found on any other loop station pedal. LCD Display and status ring: the first thing your eyes probably went to when you first saw the RC-600 was the big ring and circle status display. The status ring on the RC-1 and RC-10R are good features and it’s good to see BOSS improve this feature in the RC-600. No Global settings for FX (yes, I know, I still can't believe it). AKA, you will have to either program them every time, or to copy paste a previous memory slot. The above video uses a BOSS RC-50, which has been discontinued. But you can still achieve the same results with many of the pedals covered below. Which Loop Station is Best?

In this guide, I’ll go through each of the above pedal’s features and explain who each pedal may or may not suit. The screens on both the 505 MK2 & the 600 are also incredibly similar. In fact, both loopers share the exact same menu structure & navigation. Virtually all the systemwide settings are identical, as are all the audio routing options. The most noticeable difference between the Boss RC 600 & the RC 300 is the size. Compared to the RC 300, the overall footprint of the RC 600 is tiny. Around two thirds of the size! So if you’re after a portable looper pedal, the 600 is by far your best bet. The compact design of the RC 600 means that the expression pedal which you found on the RC 300 has been removed. Whether that’s good or bad, depends on what you’re after in a pedal. With the RC 600 you’ll less likely have to buy additional control pedals – it gives you SO many more options! The 9 foot switches each come with 3 banks, so that’s 27 options you have to play with before even thinking of including external pedals. You’re even able to connect a microphone directly into the pedal with an XLR cable, which allows you to use the looper for acoustic guitar, vocals, or any other instrument using a microphone. Whether you have a need for all of these extra inputs/outputs is up to you. The main point I’m making is that you should ignore the model number and focus on what features are important to you. My main criticism is the build quality. This is not the Boss quality you expect from say the GT-series or even compact pedals. It's a metal box, but pretty thin and flimsy feeling, the knobs and buttons are plastic and wobbly, the unit's complexity calls for a bright OLED display but instead we get a pretty fuzzy looking LCD. Boss's new pedal switches have a mushy feel and are hard to locate. I have this next to some Strymon pedals, which have far superior switches.
