About this deal

In the beginning, we learn that a 'computer error' made it so that the girls aren't in all the same classes this year. Francine is thrilled with this, Maureen is nervous and upset. Maureen has also been enrolled in ROTC or whatever version of ROTC exists in this universe. Twins are usually stereotyped to be two halves to the same person - well not in this book. They are as different as chalk and cheese.

This is the extraordinary story of June and Jennifer Gibbons, identical twins born in the UK in 1963 to parents of Barbadian heritage. Their lives captivated the nation and were the inspiration behind the lyrics of Tsunami by the Manic Street Preachers. A reimagining of Sophocles’ Antigone, this moving, elegant novel follows twins Aneeka and Parvaiz and their older sister Isma as they grapple in strikingly different ways with the tension between family loyalty and the laws of society. After Parvaiz joins Isis and is killed, Aneeka mounts a vigil in protest against the UK’s refusal to repatriate his body. In exploring complex questions of duty and identity, Shamsie delivers a novel that feels both timeless, and distinctly of its time. hanks to @scholasticinc for the free ARC to share with #kidlitexchange !

This book unfortunately just wasn’t for me. I found a lot of parts of the story boring and repetitive. I wasn’t really interested in the dance and poetry aspects of the book which were discussed in quite a lot of detail. Maybe it’s because I’ve read several other books that have the same ‘twist’ as this book but I predicted the ending very early on and I feel that previous books have executed and discussed this particular ‘twist’ so much better. I think it’s becoming overdone now in the thriller genre. Roughly 1,200 actors auditioned for the role of Artemis. Producer Judy Hofflund joked the casting team "literally auditioned every single boy in Ireland who wanted to audition." Branagh explained, "We wanted to find someone who was Irish, because we [want] that to be a distinctive flavor here. And then we needed to find somebody who was not going to be overwhelmed or intimidated."

It soon becomes clear that there is a horrendous event that both twins witnessed when they were teens that has shaped the course of their lives. Whilst Margo has no memory of this event it is clear that Cora does and she desperately wants to stop Margo from uncovering the details surrounding it. Whilst I am not painting Cora in the best light I did feel for her at times, I often questioned whether she was trying to protect Margo out of love? Overview: Okay so...this book surprised he hell out of me. There I was enjoying a great story between twins who are completely different with a bit of a mystery thrown in and then...BAM! That twist happens and I'm left with my jaw hanging. And I don't know why I didn't see it coming because it's a similar twist to my own psychological thriller series! Completely amazing and thoroughly enjoyable read. After that, Maureen goes for president of student council, a position she KNOWS Francine is wanting and gunning for. Things devolve from there. Jeez! That just blew me away! I really wasn’t expecting the twisty ending until the last minute when the penny (or should I say Bad Penny) dropped! Philosophical banter … Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Tim Burton’s film Alice in Wonderland. Photograph: Disney/Allstar I like the blended family - the girls have an older half-brother from their dad's previous wife. He doesn't live with the girls but he's still a part of the family and a part of their lives.

Children’s Books Ireland says that that allocating just €10 for every primary school child in the country to help schools buy books for their libraries – including audiobooks and picturebooks – means a Budget 2022 allocation of only €5.68m. This modest investment can open up a lifetime of possibility and excitement for children. Artemis Fowlfans have long been anxious to see the beloved book series come to life, but the waiting game is finally over. This summer, everybody will be able to visit this world of magic spells and criminal masterminds-- without ever leaving their homes. I loved every minute of this book and would highly recommend this one to fans of a twisty, unpredictable psychological thriller. Go ahead, add this one to your TBR, you will love this gripping, original tale! Astonishingly, new schools are being built with a library space provided but no funding to fill it.

The girls are still figuring out their new dynamic when Francine decides to run for student council, and by some stroke of fate, her shy, terrified-of-public-speaking sister is also running for president. Despite the ground rules laid by their parents, things get a bit messy as both girls try to establish their personal identities while fighting to reconcile their relationship as twins and sisters.
