About this deal

The number of plastic trains on the Route stays the same even when the points are doubled (unfortunately).

Yet another way to differentiate this version might be to award points for linking the various capitol’s of Australia’s six states and two territories (ignoring the ridiculous Jervis Bay Territory). It includes a giant US board map that is 50% larger than the original. It still uses the classic US routes, but with new illustrations and design. To play on this map, a completely new set of train cards are also included. A unique feature of this scenario is the introduction of Technology cards that allow players to improve the quality and sophistication of their trains during the game, allowing faster runs and longer routes. As with previous versions, the game remains elegant, can be learned in 5 minutes and provides hours of fun for families and experienced gamers alike.Answer: Um…is the earth not round? Of course, it is, and likewise, there are loads of strategic opportunities in this game! Here’s my advice: It's really easy to understand, it's super fast-paced because you can only do one thing on your turn (draw new cards or claim a route), and it still gives the brain a nice workout if you like to play tactically. You’d be surprised by how many times you can double your points in a game, so this is definitely a rule worth remembering! However, multiple routes leading to all other countries are dead ends. Basically, this means that routes leading into the same country are not connected with each other. I’ve made this mistake many times, so pay close attention! End of Game Bonus The number of cards needed to double the Route value also depends on the length of the Route. For one, two, and three space routes, one Terrain card of the matching color is needed. For four, five, and six space routes, two are required.

Also, since Australia is especially rich in mineral resources, introducing a token system (similar to the Meeples feature of the Germany version) would be another way to differentiate an Australian version. Once you’ve claimed a route, take a moment to celebrate! You’re one step closer to achieving the aim of the game. Put a plastic train on each space that makes up the Route and discard the cards you used. However, did you know that there more than a dozen versions and expansions of the game available to play? Here’s where I think Heart of Africa really starts to get interesting. Whenever you’re allowed to draw a Train Car card during the game, you can opt to draw a Terrain card instead.
