To find the best electric heater, our experts start by measuring their power consumption. They run each heater for an hour on its highest and lowest setting and calculate how much it costs for that period. These heaters circulate air throughout the unit and into the surrounding space, meaning they are generally quiet and better at evenly warming an entire room. Like radiators, they can take a while to warm up. Fan heaters When it comes to heating power, propane heaters are the clear winner. They emit radiant heat, which warms nearby objects in a similar fashion to the sun. Unlike electric heaters, you will need to replace either the pellets or propane gas, which can be inconvenient if you suddenly run out of fuel. They are also less environmentally-friendly, so if you’re in search of a more sustainable option, we recommend opting for an electric patio heater instead. We monitor how much the room temperature changed over the course of an hour using temperature probes. Although the phase shifter based on the nano-opto-electro-mechanical effect has low power consumption, it is hard to fabricate. In addition, this type of phase shifter is liable to break down due to mechanical fatigue [ 14].They also carry out two tests to see how effective each heater is at warming a small room. Firstly, they measure the temperature at a series of set distances away from the heater. This helps them ascertain whether it needs to be placed near you or if it can heat the whole space from afar.

After the five minutes passed on each setting, we recorded our body temperature again. We assessed how consistent the heat was, how many settings were available, and the mechanism used to control the heat settings. Once we ran through each heat setting, the heater ran at the highest temperature for the remainder of the testing process.
