Sadly, instead of seeking comfort again, they may actually push themselves even farther away — to the complacent zone. Every person faces this choice, knowingly or not. You can settle for what you know – the seemingly safe, familiar, and routine. Or, you can become receptive to opportunities for growth, challenging your personal status quo and seeing what you’re capable of. Think of the tortoise’s shell as its comfort zone. It has everything it needs to feel safe and at home right there. From this safe place, it takes on the challenge of the race, knowing full well that if it stops anywhere along the way, it will be just fine. I've always thought that forcing someone out of their comfort zone will only stress them out, they feel depressed. I always want to read something that supports the idea, "By remaining in our comfort zones and gradually stepping outside of them, we can evolve". This book is like a hug from the greatest hug giver or some words of wisdom from your bestie. Both leaving you feeling valued, supported and not alone. With a fixed mindset, people believe they have set doses of each ability, with a corresponding ceiling on how much they can achieve. Failure reveals inadequacy, and criticism becomes a fatal blow to self-esteem.
