Brave Heart is the first Care Cousin seen in the first Care Bears movie. While Secret Bear, Friend Bear, Kim, and Jason are apprehensive at first, he soon proves his friendliness along with Playful Heart Monkey and helps escort them to the edge of the Forest of Feelings where they re-unite with the rest of their friends. Together with his fellow Cousins, Brave Heart is able to rally them together to help the Care Bears defeat the villainous Spirit, and later becomes an official member of the Care Bear Family and the leader of the Cousins. Jayden (voiced by Katherine Shepler) is a twin of Hayden, she seems to be somewhat more sporty and is at times competitive with Hayden. In Rainshine Meadows, Funshine discovers a new place to play which has fallen into a dilapidated state, they attempt to clean it up themself, only to find the task too great. However, their persistence rubs off on the other Care Bears, and they help restore the area to its former glory.In Braces, Funshine is later among the team that helps a boy named Joey feel better about his new braces. In the first episode of the series, Compassion - NOT, they wanted a fun day, but the other Bears are busy. Tenderheart invites a girl named Penny who, like them, loves high speed, but learns that sometimes you have to slow things down. Usually, a tummy symbol's power is initiated by will, but in Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-Lot, a Care Bear has to rub its tummy to activate it. By Welcome to Care-a-lot, the belly badges activate by will once again, though the bears may rub their belly to activate it on occasion. King Beastly (voiced by Doug Erholtz) is a mischievous and arrogant beast who wears a crown, he likes to cause trouble in Care-a-Lot, but has natural talent if allowed to shine.

In The Care Bears Movie, the Cousins made whatever animal noise according to their species due to not possessing tummy symbols; those were given to them by Tenderheart at the end of the movie. In Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation, the Call has the effect of a multicolored musical score. Set in Care-a-Lot, a magical land in the clouds, Tenderheart Bear, Cheer Bear, Grumpy Bear, Share Bear, Harmony Bear, Funshine Bear and new playful, curious cub Wonderheart Bear all go on adventures that emphasize messages of caring and sharing. Human children from Earth often visit Care-a-Lot and participate in new adventures and valuable lessons learned. The Care Bears' mischievous King Beastly often attempts to make trouble for the bears. In 2006, AG Properties announced that to coincide with the franchise's 25th-anniversary celebrations, the Care Bears would be given a new, refreshed look with a new TV series and a feature-length movie titled, Care Bears: Oopsy Does It! to be released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment during 2007.
