About this deal

Take your Pimm's to the next level with a Pimm's No. 1 Spritz. In a wine glass filled with ice, add 50ml Pimm's No 1, followed by 75ml lemonade and 25ml sparkling wine. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and cucumber slices for a refreshing take on a classic. Pimm's has become as synonymous with British Summertime as picnics in the park, barbecued burgers and Wimbledon and it's certainly going to feature at our Coronation street party - but do you know how to make Pimm's properly? We spoke to experts to find out how to get the classic Pimm's recipe just right. What is Pimm's made of? Meanwhile, make the topping. Blitz the almonds in a food processor until fine, then tip in the flour, sugar and 1 pinch of sea salt. Cut the butter into cubes, add to the food processor and pulse until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

Pimm's can also be mixed with champagne (or other sparkling white wines), resulting in a drink known as a "Pimm's Royal Cup". Pimm's Winter Cup is generally mixed with warm apple juice. A "Glasgow Garden Party" is a drink made with Pimm's substituting lemonade with Irn Bru excluding any fruit garnish. A "Pimmlet" is a Gimlet with Pimm's No.1 substituted for gin. A Pimm's mojito substitutes lemon and lime soda with muddled limes and soda water. [5] History [ edit ] Strawberries, cream, pimms… these are all things synonymous with Wimbledon and I decided to encompass Pimms and the fruit of the championships to create these amazing sweet, light and utterly divine cupcakes! Pimm, a farmer's son from Kent, became the owner of an oyster bar in the City of London, near the Bank of England. He offered the tonic (a gin-based drink containing a secret mixture of herbs and liqueurs) as an aid to digestion, serving it in a small tankard known as a "No. 1 Cup", hence its subsequent name.

When ready to serve, pop the chocolate dipped strawberries on top of the cake with the raspberries and caramel shards. Serve immediately. To fill and decorate, spread the conserve over the sponge layers and top with the remaining strawberries, thinly sliced. Layer up the cake onto a board or plate. To make up a pitcher for a larger crowd, use the same method as above, this time with a handful each of the chopped fruit, cucumber and mint leaves. Keep the ratio to one part Pimm's and three parts lemonade, and make sure to pour the chilled lemonade into the jug slowly to avoid a frothy head of foam. How to make Pimm's with a twist Fill your highball glass with ice, pop in the mint and chopped fruit, pour in the Pimm's, top with lemonade and stir. Leonard, Tom (30 April 2003). Pimm's is a gin based spirit first invented in the mid 19th century. The Pimm's recipe is a secret but according to the brand the drink's ingredients are: 'herbal botanicals, caramelised orange and warm spices.' Seven Pimm's products have been produced throughout the brand's history, all fruit cups differing only in their alcoholic base. [16] Only Nos. 1, 6, and a 'Winter Cup' based on No. 3 remain in production. It was originally in 26 2⁄ 3 imperial oz. [757-ml] bottles, then made in standard metric 26.4 imperial oz. [750-ml] bottles when it started being sold overseas in Europe, and now is in 700-ml and 1-litre bottles. The beverages were originally a standard 60 Proof (or 31.53% Alcohol by volume), then curbed to 55 Proof (28.90% ABV) in the 1960s, and are now only about 44 Proof (25% ABV).To make the caramel shards for decoration, line a baking sheet with foil and sprinkle over a layer of caster sugar. Pop under a hot grill for 4-5 minutes or until the sugar melts and turns golden brown. Immediately sprinkle over the freeze-dried strawberries and the pistachios. Leave to cool then break into shards. Store in an airtight container. I am not someone with lots of patience when tasty things are coming out of my kitchen!
