About this deal

All of our holiday, seasonal, and everyday slimes use one of five basic slime recipesthat are super easy to make! We make slime all the time, and these have become our go-to favorite slime recipes! Now if you don’t want to use liquid starch, you can absolutely test out one of our other basic recipes using saline solution or borax powder. We have tested all these recipes with equal success! Since this sensory recipe is not made with commercial ingredients (preservatives or chemicals), it is healthier but not as long-lasting!

We hope you love this fun sand slime recipe. It’s such a fun texture and perfect to make in summer! When the sand was sifted, we poured a 4 oz bottle of white glue into a bowl.Next we added baking soda and stirred. I always thought slime was too difficult to make, but then I tried it! Now we are hooked on it. Grab some liquid starch and PVA glue and get started! By now, I have made lots of different types of kinetic sand and found that the secret to making stretchy kinetic sand is to mix slime with sand. The slime is what gives sand the stretchiness and helps it to stay moist and hold its form. If you are wanting to make it super stretchy after it has been stored in an airtight container, place it in warm water for 30 seconds to clean it up and get it stretchy again. Supplies Needed for SlimeThough the glass desert is covered with sand, silky sand found deep below the surface is so smooth and pure it almost feels like water. These qualities make it very useful in gadget fabrication. Deposit silky sand into The Conservatory's refinery where it can be used for crafting Vac Upgrades or Slime Science gadgets. Origin [ ] Craft sand: Craft sand is a type of colored sand that is used for various art and craft projects. It is available in a wide range of vibrant colors and is often used in sand art, decorative vases, and other creative endeavors. Craft sand can be made from different materials, such as dyed quartz or dyed calcium carbonate. This recipe does not require Sta-Flo which can be quite hard to come by here in the UK and some other countries. Plus, the ingredients for this recipe are much cheaper than buying the kinetic sand you find in the shops. Ingredients for this kinetic sand recipe with glue: The science behind slime is a lot of fun to explore. By trying different ingredients and ratios, we can create slime with different textures and properties. It’s a hands-on way to learn about polymers, reactions, and how materials can have unique characteristics.

Sand slime is my absolute favorite slime and I always join the kids when they’re playing with it. In fact, I will sometimes grab some sand slime by myself when I feel like I need relaxation or something to keep my hands busy. There’s something so soothing about the texture. I like it even better than silly putty! SAND SLIME VS KINETIC SAND The main ingredient responsible for the elasticity of slime is glue. Consider adding a bit more clear or white glue to your recipe. The additional glue will provide more bonding agents, resulting in a stretchier consistency. Slime is what we call a non-Newtonian fluid, which means it doesn’t follow the normal rules of liquids or solids. It can change its behavior depending on how we interact with it. We always like to include a bit of homemade slime science around here! Slime is an excellent chemistry demonstration and kids love it too!Mixtures, substances, polymers, cross linking, states of matter, elasticity, and viscosity are just a few of the science concepts that can be explored with homemade slime!

This slime recipe should last at least 1 week if stored properly. We have found that sand slime gets harder than regular slime faster because of the sand. Store in an air tight container or bag. We like to store in a resealable bag so we can press out all of the air from the bag. Ingredients Needed to Make Sand Slime

Glue is used to make slime which is what you will first need before being able to make stretchy kinetic sand that’s just like the ones from the shop. Have special utensils for making slime. We have specific measuring cups, measuring spoons, spoons and bowls that we use to make slime with. Using the ones from your kitchen is not a good idea. You will want to use them to eat and slime is not something you want to be mixing with your food. We like using plastic spoons instead of metal ones when we are making slime. We find that it stirs better with a plastic spoon. We started off by sifting the sand. Sand contains glass and little pebbles, which is fine, but I wasn’t looking for a chunky textured slime. I wanted to remove anything that would compromise a super soft, stretchy slime consistency. How to make sand slime While saline solution alone may not provide the required slime activation properties, it can still be used in slime-making recipes in combination with other slime activators. For example, saline solution can be mixed with baking soda or liquid starch, which are alternative slime activators, to achieve the desired slime consistency. Is Slime messy? Food Coloring (optional): We skipped the food coloring, but you could definitely add some to intensify the color of your sand slime. You’ll notice in the photos that our sand slime is a much lighter pink than the sand itself.
