My ‘random’ 12V wall wart from the junk box actually supplies 12.4V. Contrary to another review, I seem to have no issue being slightly above 12V. But then again, perhaps it accounted for some of the flakiness when I first powered them up before I had switched them to my home network. Before you can control the device again, you’ll have to add it to your account again as a new device. DEVICE REBOOT Shelly 1 ponuja celovito rešitev za avtomatizacijo vašega stanovanja, hiše ali pisarne in pomaga znatno zmanjšati porabo električne energije in znižati stroške, brez potrebe po spremembah obstoječega ožičenja The software (web server and the app) is feature-rich and it comes with REST API that can be used alongside the smart speakers (looking at you Sonoff DIY Mode). It’s great, as, unlike Sonoff devices, you can use Alexa, Google Assistant and the designated app alongside controls from Home Assistant, NodeRED and pretty much anything else that supports HTTP requests.

Next Generation Shelly Enjoy supreme home automation and control with the new generation Shelly devices - Shelly Plus! They are invisible, not literally but the end user doesn’t know they are there. The Shelly 1 can be installed to utilise the existing lighting wiring and switch. This means lights can be switched on and off with the familiar convenience of the traditional switch. SNTP synchronizes your device's system time with a server that has already been synchronized by another source. There is already a set server, which is the default one - http://time.google.com, however if there are any problems, you can easily change it and enter a new one in the text box. Changing this setting will reboot the device. ADVANCED - DEVELOPER SETTINGS The answer has been to deploy Shelly buttons. This does away with the smart plug and makes tuning the light on and off more convenient than finding the smart plug or fumbling for the switch on the bulb holder or the in line switch. It couldn’t get any more simplistic. So far I have added 37 Shelly devices to my home and I can find plenty of more uses that I plan to add as time and budget allows. Here is what I have added and what they do:

Please note: The Shelly can switch a maximum load of 16A, therefore this current must be observed for connected devices. Shelly1 – activated Shelly1 – deactivated Troubleshooting Change Wi-Fi connection data The REST API is well explained. The documentation insists on the use of JSON in the examples which lead me to the false assumption I could use the JSON to send the data to Shelly 1.Your timezone and location will be autodetected, but you can manually change them from this setting by choosing a timezone from the drop-down menu and typing in your latitude and longitude. There is also a button Auto detect location, which will make the device automatically detect the location once again if it failed the previous time. DEVICE NAME Hats off to the person coding the switch behaviour. A simple ON|OFF would be nice but Shelly 1 comes with a list of possible behaviours.

As already mentioned, there are lots of uses for Shelly devices. Just how far you want to go with them probably comes down to your competency and comfort level working with electric. Many of the installations involve mains voltage (230v) which could cause death, serious injury or damage. Only undertake work you are capable of doing safely and in line with local legislation. One key feature of the Shelly 1 Plus i4 is its enhanced support for input connections. It can connect and control up to four different input devices, effectively serving as a relay for multiple circuits or devices.

Shelly 1 Plus

Another strange design decision was to glue the enclosure together. There is a jumper switch (12 -220V control) inside, which can be only accessed if you open up the enclosure. Since the case is glued up together, you have to be extra careful not to break the plastic when opening it. Installing near the switch If you only see only two wires (sometimes earth cable as well) connected, your lights are fed through the ceiling and your Shelly 1 has to go inside the light-fitting hole. Extra cables? Shelly Plus 1 has embedded Web Interface which can be used to monitor and control the device, as well as adjust its settings. Main applications I have soldered pins into Sonoff devices to load my own firmware that I program myself. The Shelly DIY mode seems to provide everything I might need, so I don’t intend to load custom firmware or compile something with the Arduino IDE. They respond fast when on the cloud. Pressing the button on the app or a door opening or light coming on is near instantaneous.
