Conversation: The Tamagotchi will ask a question and the user will be given answers to choose from. The Tamagotchi may then reference the answer later in another conversation or when talking to another Tamagotchi. They may also tell the user how they feel about their caretaking. The Tamagotchi Smart shares some features with the Tamagotchi Pix, a mainline Tamagotchi that had released the same year outside of Japan. Wrapping♥ (Gift): The Tamagotchi will be wrapping up a present. The user has 12 seconds to mash the A button as much as they can to fill the meter. After 12 seconds, the Tamagotchi will wrap up the present and its quality will depend on how full the meter is. If the game ends in a "Failure", the screen will show Hello Kitty crying. If the game ends in a "Success", it will show Hello Kitty performing a Close Up. If the game ends in a "Great Success", it will show Hello Kitty performing a Close Up before showing either her dancing, or her sharing one of her toys with the Tamagotchi. A "Success" game fills one Happy heart, while a "Great Success" game fills two Happy hearts. Sanrio Match (Game Corner, Sanrio): The tamagotchi will be standing in front of 15 lilypads in a pond which will briefly show what's behind them (7 pairs of sanrio characters and 1 kuromi). The lilypads will hide their contents again and the user must select the lilypads hiding characters with matching designs while avoiding Kuromi which will end the game. Minigames: Various minigames such as cooking, room cleaning, and quizzes were available year round. There were also seasonal themed games such as Goldfish Dipping and Swimming Relay only available during Summer. The minigames could be played with up to four people and users could earn gotchi points and items depending on their results.Caretaking: The user can leave the Tamagotchi with Smaspitchi from 7:00 AM to 5:59 PM. If the user does not return to care for their Tamagotchi by 6 PM, the Tamagotchi will become upset, and the Fondness meter will lower.

Park: Exclusive residents can be talked to and played with here. If any of the residents are the mother or father of the user's Tamagotchi they will not appear. Best★Shot (20th Anniversary): The user controls a royal servant taking pictures of a Tamagotchi parade in the town. There is a bar on top of the screen with a blue, orange, and red section. The user must stop the cursor when it's in the red section to take a perfect photo. There are five rounds. Gift: The user can gift food, items, accessories, rooms, minigames, and locations to the other userThere are no on-screen icons, and therefore all information is conveyed through the screen and buttons. The Tamagotchi is cared for by filling its meters; it has Hungry and Happy meters, each consisting of four units, which are both empty when it's born. If either becomes empty, it will call for attention to fill them. Instead of moving around the screen like previous virtual pets, the Tamagotchi will always be positioned at the bottom right corner of the living room. Tapping the character will cause the character to come close to the screen, and bring up a menu of various options. Bandai collaborated with the Japanese J-pop and K-pop idol group, NiziU, to promote the Tamagotchi Smart. They appeared in the reveal video and promotional art, eventually having a TamaSma Card and Smart themed after them.
