About this deal

This TV works with compatible smart home devices and appliances from Bixby, Alexa, Google Assistant and connects through Smart Things (compatible phone and app required. Exact functionality may change at any time and be withdrawn from the product without notice).

With TVs getting slimmer and built-in speakers getting smaller, choosing the right sound system is more important than ever. Soundbars enhance your TV’s sound quality and add that extra audio punch to all your movies, games and TV programmes. More affordable and easier to set up than a full size speaker system, they don’t compromise on quality either. HDR deepens your view and shows shades previously unseen in home entertainment. Expanding light, dark and every colour in between to extraordinary new levels, this model's picture gets closer to real life. With HDR10+, colour, contrast and detail are precisely optimised.

Samsung AU7100 review

Step down any further, though – to a DVD, for example, or even some daytime TV off-air reruns of 20th century content – and the AU7100 throws in the towel somewhat. Picture noise sets up camp, motion loses a lot of certainty and most of the nuance in colour shading goes astray too. So the lesson is: never watch antique content on your Samsung AU7100. See crystal clear, lifelike colour come to life with the 4K HDR picture of Samsung’s TU7100 TV. It adapts to optimise both sound and picture, and you can control all compatible devices with One Remote Control. Access a world of online entertainment via Samsung's Smart platform and it works with compatible Bixby, Google Assistant and Alexa devices. Samsung has done the sensible thing with the design of the AU7100: there’s really not much of it. The company’s claim that this is a ‘bezel-less’ doesn’t take long to disprove, but the bezels are agreeably slim and nicely finished. If you want to connect your TV to a blu-ray player, games console, soundbar or soundbase then you'll need a HDMI cable. In fairness, the Samsung sounds reasonably distinct through the midrange, so dialogue is easy to follow. It doesn’t get edgy or in any other way unhappy if you decide to deploy every last one of those 20 watts, either.

watts of power. Two full-range drivers delivering stereo sound. The AU7100 is by no means the worst-specified TV around where audio is concerned, but it’s not specified to set any pulses racing – and neither will the sound it makes.

Out of Bundle Charges

A Smart TV is a platform that can run 3rd party Apps. 3rd party content providers may remove Apps from the Smart TV platform or stop supporting them at any time, and we cannot guarantee an App’s availability. When new Smart TV products are launched, there may also be a delay before certain Apps become available. Availability of Apps is not included within the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty, or the John Lewis 2-year Guarantee for audio visual products, or the 5-year Guarantee for TVs. As has lately been Samsung’s wont, the AU7100 is supplied with a couple of remote control handsets with which to navigate the interface, pursue the set-up menus and what-have-you. One is (and there’s no two ways about it) an unpleasant, cheap-feeling, overburdened handset of confusion, while the is a much nicer, much more minimal ‘just the basics’ alternative. The TV’s build quality is pretty respectable for such an affordable TV, too. It’s fair to say that by the time you’ve added to the mix an ultra-trim rear, a super-slim frame around the screen and a cool, minimalist finish, the UE50AU8000 ends up looking like it’s worth comfortably more than it costs.
