About this deal

This ‘Chronospeed’ features another useful feature in the form of a screw-down crown. As such, the water seal should be better than other options on this list and give you some peace of mind if you plan on submerging this watch. Considered by some to be a superior watch to the Brietling Navitimer and available for under half the retail cost, the German ‘Sinn 903’ has a very interesting story behind it. Rotary Watches Limited hits the spotlight for this article. This award-winning brand sells timepieces all across the globe. It started small, in La Chaux de Fonds, a small town in Switzerland. It was founded by Moise Dreyfuss in 1895, giving the brand a rich history and long legacy to live up to. Perhaps the most impressive feat of this company is that after over a century later, it remains family-owned by the Dreyfuss Group.

The GS03351/19 features a mineral crystal, enhancing its resistance to scratches and ensuring a clear and unobstructed view of the dial. The timepiece also comes with a 50m water resistance rating. Watch owners who frequently swim or engage in water sports should be particularly diligent about pressure testing their timepieces. Failure to do so can result in significant damage and financial loss. Moisture penetration can cause several hundred or even thousands of pounds in damages. Hence, regular pressure testing can be a worthwhile investment to prevent such issues. Rotary Watch Cleaning Whilst being constructed of the same material, the 903 has a higher level of finishing and there are also some differences within the case.

Here we have the first of quite a few popular Rotary skeleton watches. These are more personal favourite style of watches but also feature as some of the most regularly bought timepieces for Rotary on their own merit. Rotary Mecanique Vintage Skeleton Automatic Watch The Seiko ‘Flightmaster’ (SNA411) was the very first watch that jumped to mind when creating this selection of watches, due to its obvious resemblance to the Breitling legend. Overall, we can say that Rotary is a good brand. It is popular in some countries than in others. For instance, it has a bigger audience in the United Kingdom. Rotary produces two levels of watches: those made in Switzerland, which have the high-end components and movements; and those assembled in China, which use either Chinese or Japanese movements. Without a doubt, Swiss-made Rotary models are more dependable and contain high-quality ETA movements. Today, Rotary is headquartered in Clerkenwell, London. All of their watches are designed in-house. They have a state-of-the-art design studio in the thriving city. Following the motto British design, London style , Rotary was able to make itself a well-renowned brand in the UK and abroad. Today, it is sold globally. Rotary Watch Warranty As with some other lists on Ben’s Watch Club, this will be split into two sections. The first will be watches that are ‘clones’ of the Navitimer design, which are visually almost identical (though do vary in terms of performance). They are a member of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH , which in itself is a guarantee of their watches’ performance and reliability. You can get Rotary watches at different prices, from higher-end Swiss models to more affordable ones using Chinese or Japanese movements. Of course, you can also choose based on an entire range of designs and styles. A quartz movement has been used at the heart of this Rotary watch to provide you with precise accurate and reliable timekeeping. A domed mineral crystal glass window has been used as you would often see a domed finish in old vintage watches. It also provides you with scratch and shatter resistance. The Ocean Avenger has a 100m water resistance rating, the Rotary Dolphin Standard. The reason for saying that is that to properly strip, clean, assemble, oil and test one will take several hours of skilled work and the movements can be bought and fitted brand new for less than doing that will cost at any reasonable labour rate.

On the case rear you’ll notice some lasered text referring to what they describe as ‘Flame-fusion Crystal’. This is their custom type of sapphire-coated mineral crystal, which gives slightly better scratch resistance than typical mineral glass. Their marketing of this material may have you believe this is also superior to sapphire crystal, though my experience shows otherwise. With a water resistance of up to 100 meters, this watch is suitable for everyday wear and can withstand accidental splashes or brief immersion in water. Mechanical watches are marvels of engineering and craftsmanship, but they require expert servicing to maintain their high performance. Our skilled technicians perform a full strip-down of the internal mechanism, carefully inspecting each part for imperfections. They use only original parts to replace any faulty ones, regulating and lubricating the mechanism before reassembling it to ensure precision timing. As Casio watches go, this one is certainly on the large end of the scale, at 45mm. It features a similar tachymeter and triple sub-dial layout to the Navitimer, though isn’t directly a homage. It has a monochromatic look, giving a more understated aesthetic overall, but does retain a sturdy, chunky construction and strong warranty.Originally founded in Switzerland, Rotary watches are particularly popular in the United Kingdom; which is their primary market. One of their offerings, dubbed the ‘Chronospeed’, is clearly a homage to the Breitling Navitimer; featuring many of the same design cues. I then got jewellers to do it, which was about a quarter the price of Rotary, but still way over the reasonable cost of the parts and labour, and you had to endure the 'can't guarantee' speech every time. I have a gents' Rotary watch which I used to send to Rotary for 'servicing' but then decided that the exercise was totally uneconomic.
