The writing. Penelope Douglas can write. No question about it. She takes this really compelling and sometimes difficult characters and make you fall in love with them. That's what she did with Madoc. You all remembered Madoc, right? I cheered Tate on when she finally junk punched the guy. He was the classic arrogant douchecanoe but at the end of Bully, I wanted his story so bad. We finally got a glimpse of it during Until You. And I was excited to read his story because of forbidden quality to it. Same happened in Rival. Fallon is in boarding school for two years but we don't know where. Does she make friends? Dorms? Did she have Facebook? How was she so isolated in this day and age. If you're gonna add in these trips away make them realistic please. Use this time to show us their development as characters.Overall,this author can write, the pace was good and those sex scenes were steamy but the love wasn't there and the last 30 percent was soap opera ridiculous. Fallon is exactly the sort of heroine I love to read about; smart mouthed, sassy, and with a spine of steel. This girl sure knew how to dish it, and she could take it just as well. This is a story about need and hope. A story about sharing your life with someone who makes you want to wake up every morning and see thousand reasons why it’s worth it. Madoc and Fallon are our heroes. By now I am going to tell you that Fallon was ok for me, but Madoc wasn't. Let me explain. The 2 of them fell in love when they were teens, experienced everything together, they thought they were it and after that Fallon left. After that, Madoc had his heart broken and love was out of his life for good because of this. He was a player, managing his hurt through sex **typically**.I figured out the big secret rather early and i spent the rest of the book screaming O.M.G. everytime a new revelation came to light. And let's be honest some of them were quite mindblowing. This sequel unveiled many secrets.. I wanted to come at her. Again and again until she came undone. I wanted her screaming and crying. I wanted to chip away this tough little act until she was red with anger and sobbing miserably. I'm having a Penelope Douglas marathon this long weekend in hopes that I can finish this whole series!!
