About this deal

Several recordings of Civil War veterans performing the yell exist. One, from a 1938 newsreel documenting the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, documents several Confederate veterans performing the yell as a high-pitched "Wa-woo-woohoo, wa-woo woohoo." [4] The Library of Congress has a film from the 1930s of a dozen or so veterans performing the yell individually and as a group. [1] In 1935, a 90-year-old North Carolina veteran was recorded performing it. [3] The copywriter for Luxco already beat me to the lazy writing punch by saying it’s it’s a dialed up version of the original so I sat in front of my computer for 20 minutes trying to think of a better line to describe it and couldn’t, because it is. Having less water added to the whiskey makes a big difference as we’ll see in the bourbon review below. MacLeod, J. (1996). Highlanders – A History of the Gaels. London: Hodder & Stoughton. ISBN 0-340-63991-1. Rebel Yell Bourbon was started in 1849 by an individual known as William Larue Weller who was one of the first people to replace rye with wheat in his whiskey mash bill. The original name of the company was W.L. Weller & Sons until it merged with the Stitzel distillery company which was founded around 1872.

I opened the bottle of Rebel Yell 100 and immediately noticed a strong aroma of sweet vanilla and caramel. There was also a hint of oak and a subtle floral note. FlavorReviewing Teeling 24 Years Old: Teeling Whiskey released this 33-year-old expression last year, which is said to be the “oldest bottling of Irish Single Malt ever released”. If you’re a fan of Irish whiskey, this one is definitely worth trying. Overall, I found Rebel Yell 100 to be a solid bourbon with a pleasant aroma, sweet flavor, and warming finish. While it may not be the most complex bourbon I’ve tried, it is certainly enjoyable and easy to drink. I would give Rebel Yell 100 a rating of 8 out of 10. Mixing and Pairing a b What Did the Rebel Yell Sound Like?. From the article Civil War Veterans Come Alive in Audio and Video Recordings, Smithsonian Magazine, October 5, 2011.

Eye– the eye of this bourbon consists mainly of dark amber which provides a deep and rich flavor profile to the bourbon in general. In 1849, William Weller founded the W.L. Weller & Sons company. Weller was a distiller who pioneered the use of wheat instead of rye in bourbon for a lighter flavor, and the company produced their own distinct bourbons until they merged with the Stitzel distilling company in 1910. The subsequent company then became the Stitzel-Weller distilling company. Warren, Craig A. (7 September 2014). The Rebel Yell: A Cultural History. University Alabama Press. p.141. ISBN 978-0817318482. ... Idol explained that he came to use the title 'Rebel Yell' ... not because of any knowledge of the Confederacy but because of his enthusiasm for Rebel Yell bourbon.

Another claim is that it derived from the screams traditionally made by Irish and Scottish Highlanders when they made a Highland charge during battle. At the Battle of Killiecrankie "Dundee and the Chiefs chose to employ perhaps the most effective pre-battle weapon in the traditional (highland) arsenal – the eerie and disconcerting howl," [7] also "The terror was heightened by their wild plaided appearance and the distinctive war-cry of the Gael – a high, savage whooping sound ..."
