Potter initially wrote the story of Peter Rabbit in 1893 to provide entertainment to her friend’s 5-year-old son, who was ill. The letter she wrote commenced with: “I don't know what to write to you, so I shall tell you a story about four little rabbits whose names were—Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter.” This followed with Potter publishing more stories, which at first received rejections from publishers before it received positive results. Potter developed her prowess in her ability to draw and illustrate due to her childhood interest in nature surrounding her. As she grew up as a child, she would sketch animals and day by day observation developed her life-like drawing style.Everyone has a favourite among the cast of memorable characters.
