About this deal

Recent additions to the software include a “heads up” display for the performance pads on the unit, giving you touchscreen access to them (this is good, because the Mixstreams only have four physical pads but there are eight “buttons” overall that can be used), and a simple sampler for DJ drops and so on – the latter is not available on any other standalone DJ systems, being currently unique to Engine DJ systems. The effects are currently not switchable with software but are well-chosen and offer enough variety to keep mixes interesting.

Use advanced features like Ableton Link to synchronise your DJ set with production software or hardware on the same network. Engine Lighting lets you run light shows from your MixStream Pro either pre-programmed in SoundSwitch with the DMX interface or control Philips Hue lighting over wifi on the same network.

DJ Education & Community

Completing the ultimate DJ experience, the controller gives you the ability to create beat-synchronised light shows using the onboard touchscreen. Utilising the integrated Engine Lighting design, the Mixstream Pro + can control strobing and colour overrides as well as BPM matched lighting. Using the SoundSwitch desktop software you can analyse your music library beforehand, providing full control of DMX lighting via the 7-inch touchscreen. Finally, while it is totally possible to plug your own speakers in to this unit (or indeed plug it in at a venue for DJing in public), for practising or even for tiny, living room parties, the built-in speakers will be what you’ll probably start with.

The Pro Go will be a familiar layout to anyone who’s seen previous Mixstream models. Like the Mixstream Pro and Pro Plus, the Pro Go is a two-channel design with a 7-inch touchscreen, 6-inch jog wheels and basic mixer. There are a few superficial differences to the colour scheme, but the big difference in terms of hardware is the inclusion of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which obviously adds weight to the Pro Go (around one kilogram more than the Pro Plus) but gives you the benefit of four hours’ fully wireless performance (our testing suggested Numark might be a little conservative with this claim; battery life will depend on various factors like screen brightness, speaker volume and so on, but you should easily manage four hours plus in normal usage). In addition to being able to DJ in Standalone Mode with Engine DJ OS, the Mixstream Pro +’s Computer Mode allows you to use the device as a DJ software controller for Serato DJ and Virtual DJ (Serato DJ Lite is supported for free, a paid license is required for Serato DJ Pro and Virtual DJ). When in Computer Mode, the Mixstream Pro +’s touch screen offers hands- on control over library navigation, song selection, FX control, and more. This incredible flexibility gives you the option to choose exactly how you’d like to perform at your next show. The Numark Mixstream Pro is everything you need to DJ. It's your music source, your mixing controller and your speakers, no need for a computer. At only 3.7KG, it’s super easy to carry, and its loudspeakers do a great job filling a space for small gatherings. And there’s good news for fans of Serato and Virtual DJ: Go will soon be an official accessory fully mapped for both. This means it can double up as a controller, although a paid subscription may be required. It appears less odd than the Denon DJ Prime Go, another controller from the same wider stable (both Denon DJ and Numark are owned by inMusic). That too runs the Engine DJ operating system that powers the Numark Pro Go, but the Numark unit has much bigger jogwheels, and has got around the issue of having to have a 7″ touchscreen front and centre by opting for short pitch controls, and rearranging the mixer, with the EQ and gain knobs to the left and right of the two channel faders, and the filter knobs in a completely different place (left and right of the screen). The Denon DJ Prime Go is still the more professional of the two units, but this one feels more like a conventional DJ controller. DJing at home or playing a small party? No need to plug in extra speakers, as these’ll do the job. Although not necessarily for open-format or scratch DJs, the central mixer section has adopted a battle-style layout.

Numark’s ultra-lightweight standalone is a battery-powered revision of a well-loved piece of DJ kit. At the heart of the Mixstream Pro + is a crisp touchscreen display which allows you to interact with music, navigate between songs and toggle settings on the fly. Scratch and mix with confidence and precision with the six-inch touch-capacitive platters. You can switch between ‘Scratch’ and ‘Normal’ modes which adjusts the feel of the scratch wheels, for a truly authentic feel. One of the most unique features of the scratch wheels is the ‘Smart Scratch’ mode. The Smart Scratch feature ensures the music stays on beat after scratching is added to the mix. A common gripe with the previous Mixstreams is that there is no alternative way to set loops on the device, only with the performance pads. The same is true here. However, this is by no means a deal breaker, as it’s easy to create loops with the pads. Built-in Drop Sampler New Main FX for Denon DJ Hardware - over 25 new and enhanced FX (many of the same FX featured on the RANE FOUR) Although Touch FX is a native part of Mixstream Pro Go, a firmware update will put it on older devices.
