I owe the entire Yzma costume idea to my sister who still had several of the costume items on hand. She’s the perfect Disney villain costume! And it’s not too hard to pull together your own DIY Yzma costume with a few key pieces and one can of spray paint. I decided to try one more time. It forced me to mix it up and get creative with a plan C. This was all before I knew our baby’s costume was way too big! It came, and I almost decided to call it quits after one more hurdle.
Use an empty water bottle and place it on top of your head. Bend upside down and cover the water bottle with your hair. Tie with a hair elastic around the bottle top. That’s an easy and cheap way to achieve the perfect hair for a Yzma Halloween costume! If there’s one antagonist who you’ll definitely love because of how adorable he is, it’s probably Kronk. He’s not really evil. In fact, this evil doer’s assistant has a big, good heart and is naturally friendly as well. It’s just that he’s very loyal to Yzma (who’s the real evil in the story). Revenge is sweetest served simply. Never trust authority if that authority figure walks on four legs and spits when threatened. Keep your friends close but keep your ex-advisor who is now your enemy closer. Oh, the things we'velearned from the Emperor's New Groove! This 2000 Disney classic had a place in our hearts as soon as it broke out in theaters. The buddy comedy has everything, a struggle for power, a quest for revenge, and a quest for redemption. Who wouldn't want to join in the fun with Emperor's New Groove costumes!I was going to borrow some friend’s stuff and it should have all worked out easily. We found out one of our darling hosts were going to be our plan B. I had to laugh that our friends had already loaned their amazing stuff. My mom is a talented seamstress and saved us last minute! When Halloween hits one month postpartum it can be a bit rough! I was ready to forgo our normal creativity and just skip out on our favorite holiday party like a Scrooge. We had more drama this year than you could imagine! I was seriously barely even showering at this point postpartum. Consequently, pulling together costumes without being able to leave the house seemed impossible.
We all have respect for Yzma, despite her villainous nature. The thing is, she's just no good at making plans. Her ideas are just too complex, too confused. She's a big thinker. We get it. Her first idea relies on turning Kuzco into a flea, mailing his flea body to her door, and smashing said box with a hammer. Relying on the postal service for getting rid of your political component is never a good idea. Then she gets wise and moves on to basic poisoning. But she's still an ambitious lady so of course, she's got plenty of potions on hand. So when it came to that "basic poisoning" it got switched up and her adversarybecame a llama instead of coming to his untimely end. This awesome Yzma costume is sure to be a showstopper but it's even better when you match it with an over-sized hammer. For the Kronk costume sash, we found some fabric, cut it into a strip, and tied it around the waist for the skirt and belt. No sewing is required! It’s more about the colors and the safety pinning strategically. And hey, you can even re-use the shirt when you’re done! As we got closer I couldn’t come up with family costumes for the life of me, then under pressure, I came up with about 10 family-themed ideas to work with a newborn. Time was limited, so I had to get resourceful. Of course, Yzma could also pair up with Kronk. Kronk might be muscle and brawn but he's also a culinary genius. He's got more heart than most stooges. In fact, when he started teaching young ones to speak chipmunk, we weren'tsurprised in the least. A job with more heart than brawn seems to fit him better than any other.

We added a felt hat we sewed together with a straw to prop up the sun. You could 100% do a DIY Kronk costume without sewing! Buy some fabric glue and safety pin the hat together.
