About this deal

Before applying the Iron Paste make sure the surface is clean and free from rust using Liberon Rust Remover. Apply the Iron Paste sparingly to the whole surface with a brush or cotton cloth. Allow to dry for a minimum of 4 hours before buffing with a brush or cotton cloth.

Any accidental spillage of food or drinks should be mopped up immediately with an absorbent cloth and the affected area cleaned and polished with a soft brush to reinstate the shine and the protective layer to prevent surface rust appearing. Apply Iron Paste sparingly to the whole surface with a brush or cotton cloth. For awkward areas, a small toothbrush is ideal. Lightly buff off any excess and leave to fully dry. The basic process of soldering is broadly seen as fairly simple and straightforward. However, knowing exactly how and when to use a soldering iron for the best possible results is something that professional engineers continue to develop over years of dedicated use, and learning the proper techniques for achieving a neater, more effective join can demand a significant level of finesse and experience.Essentially, the main aim of any desoldering job is to cleanly remove melted material (be it wire, flux or paste) from the location you are working on, such that the component can be reseated and a better bond can be created at the next attempt. As such, the three basic steps in any desoldering operation will be as follows: To obtain a decorative, patinated finish on sculpted or high relief pieces, carefully polish the raised area with a cotton cloth. It is recommended you lightly dust over the fireplace with a lint free cloth to remove all dust before any maintenance. After this you will need to use your lint free cloth or a small brush and some iron past. Rub the iron paste in using the small brush or cloth and allow the paste to dry for 4 hours. Numerous techniques and tools exist for achieving these basic goals but the simplest version is just to reheat the old solder with a simple fixed-temperature iron. While this will not offer many options for a high-finesse job, it can be effective if you just need the basic ability to remove a component.

In terms of the sheer number of things it can be used to build, fix, augment or disassemble, the full range of potential soldering iron uses is effectively limitless. However, all of this incredible versatility can be categorised under two core functions - soldering and desoldering. A soldering iron is the primary piece of hand-held equipment used in the process of soldering, wherein a small quantity of fusible metal alloy - known as solder - is heated to a high temperature with the tip of the iron. Ensure that the surface is clean and free from rust, using a rust remover if necessary. Apply the Iron Paste sparingly with a brush or cotton cloth. To achieve a decorated, patinated finish on sculpted or high relief pieces, carefully polish the raised area with a cotton cloth. Always wear protective gloves when working with this product and do not apply to a hot surface. Once it is all dry rub the fireplace with a cotton cloth gently all over to give it a really nice finish. Liberon Iron Paste is especially ideal for use when restoring and renovating cast iron fire places and surrounds. However, although desoldering can be a pretty basic job, it is still important to follow the correct process and ensure the task is done correctly. Why Desolder? Please note that this is a decorative finish and is not suitable for use on surfaces that are liable to be subject to intense heat. Under no circumstances should a damp cloth, water or water based cleaners, or water based polishes, be used to clean cast iron products

Liberon Iron Paste can be used to good decorative effect on sculptured or detailed pieces, when used to highlight and polish raised areas and create contrast. Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result. Do not apply to hot surfaces.Allow to dry for a minimum of four hours before buffing with a brush or cotton cloth. If more coats are required, you can re-apply to get a better finish. For cleaning and maintenance, Re-apply and buff as necessary as this will further protect and enhance the finish. Tool temperature is critical, as the soldering iron must get hot enough to melt the solder to a liquid state, but without melting or damaging the components. Some more advanced models of iron will include an adjustable temperature feature, offering enhanced control and greater compatibility with a range of different solder types. However, the majority will simply heat themselves to a preset level automatically on connection to the mains or another suitable power supply. We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.

By following these simple instructions to clean and protect your cast iron appliance it will retain its distinctive natural beauty and aesthetic appeal and provide you with many years of trouble free service. The easiest way to clean soldering iron tips is simply to manually wipe off any build-up of debris from previous sessions - examine the tips for any residual bits of solder and carbon. However, with heavy use, you may find that further cleaning is required. Before applying Iron Paste, make sure the surface is clean and free from rust. A Rust Remover may be used but if the surface has any rust etc, use a Bronze Liming Brush or course wire wool over the entire surface. This will remove the rust and also prep the surface for a better finish. Once you have wire brushed the iron work, wipe over with a duster. For this example we have a cast iron umbrella stand that was rusty and dirty. It had lost all of its colour and was in need of renovation.Always test the product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result. Do not apply to hot surfaces. Not suitable for wood burning stoves, Radiators etc. Many models of soldering iron can accommodate a variety of removable soldering tips, sometimes referred to as bits. In seeking to achieve the most professional and effective results, you will often find that different types of soldering jobs, components and surfaces will benefit from the use of various shapes and styles of tip being inserted into the handle of your iron to allow for greater precision.
