About this deal

The HS8 monitors can reach as low as 38Hz, lower than the smaller speakers can go. Still, you won’t get as deep or as true or as balanced a bass response out of a pair of these speakers as you will when you add Yamaha’sHS8Ssubwoofer to the mix.

Before we dive into the details of theYamahaHS8Ssub, there’s a more foundational question to ask: do you really need a subwoofer in the first place? If you have a set of powered studio monitors from a brand that makes a matching subwoofer, you’re very likely better off getting the matching sub. (I’d never recommend getting a different sub to go with your Yamaha HS5 monitors, either.) The low cut switch adjusts from 80 to 120Hz and can be disabled. The high cut adjusts within the same frequency range. If your studio monitor is too close to the wall, you won’t be hearing the true bass. Instead, you’ll be hearing build-up. Even the best studio monitors won’t produce a clear sound with a bad set-up.

First Question: Do You Really Need a Subwoofer for Your Home Studio Setup?

They look really really good. The illuminating Yamaha logo looks awesome. Built quality is really nice, they feels strong and durable. They are quite heavy but that's expected. Put furniture against the walls first and have your audio set-up five feet or more away from your walls. Find the best position for your subwoofer, too. A subwoofer can help a lot, but it takes some experimenting to figure out the sweet spot. To make matters much easier, place your subwoofer near your speakers and play anything with a lot of low-frequency acoustics. Listen carefully and find the best possible spot for your subwoofer with the playing as a guide! With the Hs8, you become the master of your creations! Clarity is the priority with every part of the Hs8, from the cone woofer to the tweeter. You get everything from a low-cut switch to both low and high-cut controls with response controls that accommodate detailed settings.

In 2019 we marked the fiftieth year of our Professional Audio division, and had the idea of producing a special model of the HS Series that would receive even greater attention by our designers and engineers. The answer: YES, in this Yamaha Hs8 review, we deem the Hs8 worth it. It’s one of the best possible speakers you can get as a musician. Add it to your setup for a successful home recording experience! Crystal-clear bass and mids are possible with the Hs8 through the woofer ring, sub-woofer, and basket. Yamaha HS8 nearfields are wonderful monitors and I also like the fact "No Front-Face Ported Bass extension" which "Always Influences" Frequencies!!! and in how you perceive sound! In an expertly built High-end Studio Sound Stage, quality will follow but for the home studio (funny to call it "home studio" after spending over 100k) The HS8's are worth every penny.

These are the best studio monitors you can get for your home studio set-up! Are there any additional software or drivers required for the Yamaha HS8? Bass response is sharp, spectre seems very flat, they are not boosted at all in any kind of way. It really helped me master the album I was working on for half a year, as soon as I got them. It was impossible to do it with my headphones. Though placement is a necessary part of your monitors, you don’t have to worry about it as much with the Hs8. Of course, it’s still best to know what’s good for your space, so measure out your studio. In fact, each component of the Yamaha HS8 monitor has been meticulously researched, designed and optimised to give you incredible signal reproduction. The tweeter expands the frequency response range, while the cone woofer contributes to low distortion.

Form an equilateral triangle with your chosen pair of speakers. You’re going to be the “tip” of the triangle, so measure your distance from them, too. TheYamahaHS8Sis an 8-inch bass reflex powered subwoofer that takes on frequencies between 22Hz and 150Hz, freeing your existing monitors from having to power anything below 150Hz. USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year. The Yamaha HS8 active studio monitors will help you make better-sounding recordings. Yamaha's nearfield monitors with their iconic white-coned woofers have been ubiquitous in top studios worldwide ever since the original NS-10s hit the scene in the late '70s. Yamaha (never content to rest on its laurels) has continuously developed and perfected the design, resulting in HS series monitors with newly designed bi-amplified drivers and scientifically ported enclosures that deliver amazing accuracy and vanishingly low coloration. Don't mix in the dark. Nail what you're after, without the guesswork, with Yamaha's HS8. The sound is brilliant. At low volume they work perfectly well, just like normal computer speakers, but as you raise the volume, the sound remains perfectly clear to the point when it hurts your ears. The whole places shakes, but no distortion appears. Thats amazing. The speaker enclosure on the HS8is designed to eliminate unwanted resonance to ensure a more focused and accurate sound. The dense and durable MDF construction has a damped acoustic response and the rear speaker port further reduces unwanted noise. Adding a subwoofer to your home studio setup can make a huge difference in the sound you experience as you record, mix and master your music. If you’re considering making this change, there are some things you need to know. However, it’s also considerably priced lower when compared to other monitors of the same features and quality. But do note that you might need to spend more on a separate subwoofer. The Yamaha HS8 is a powerful 8″ powered studio monitor that delivers a superb audio performance that is considerably enhanced by a sophisticated mounting system. The Yamaha HS8 will help you make a better-sounding recording. Every component, down to the placement of the screws, has been designed to deliver the best audio response and eliminate unwanted vibration and resonance. This allows you to achieve the best sonic potential without distortion or coloration of your recording or productions. In your current setup, you’re almost certainly sending a signal from your audio interface’s monitor OUT to your monitors’ INs. (If not, you’re doing something more advanced and can probably reconstruct this advice to suit your setup.)

The compatible subwoofer itself deserves a whole different review, but I can also say it’s worth the price if you need to use it! However, it will work better for those who need a lot of power for their mixes. That’s what the Hs8 does best.
