About this deal

If you are using Magmod, want the longest lasting battery and/or just want to save a few pennies then I would recommend you consider the Godox v860ii. You can read my review on that flash here: Godox v860ii Review So before you reset Godox Flash, you should ensure it has enough battery power. That way, the flash won’t turn off during the reset process! Step 3: Press the two buttons between the “RST”

The Godox V1 is a flash unit designed for professional and amateur photographers. It is compact and easy to use, making it a great option for on-the-go shoots. With a maximum output of 76Ws, the V1 offers high power and a faster recycle time than competing flash units. The V1 also features a round head design that provides even lighting and a more natural look. I own the V1 and also other flashes with a regular rectangular head. I have done many tests and come to the conclusion that a round head offers virtually no essential advantage. The power range of the V1 proved impressive and very similar to that of the VING V860III in our tests. That’s no surprise as both flashguns run off the same 7.2V 2600mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery, with exactly the same rating of 480 full-power flashes from a full charge. That said, the nature of the diffusing lens and its larger circular head give the V1 a little less maximum power. There’s also less power on tap for telephoto shooting, due to the more limited 28-105mm zoom range compared with 20-200mm in the V860III. I've employed the flash regularly for product photography and other sundries in the seven months I've been using it, and have only had to dig around to find the small charging cradle three or four times. In master mode, individual groups can be turned on/off by pressing the group button repeatedly rather than having to press multiple buttons in previous flashes. All I can say is that when I see I have one bar left. I will recharge. I won't push it since sod's law means I will run out of power at THE pivotal moment. Magnetic rim

I REALLY wish that Godox had implemented the same system as found on the Adorama Flashpoint R2 Pro Mk2and now the Godox XT-2 transmitter. On those triggers, you just double press the group button and the power goes on/off. It's just so much simpler. In this post, I’ll walk you through the steps. So you can get your Godox V1 up and running! Step 1: Grab your Godox V1 flash As with all of Godox’s units, this flash carries all the features we need and expect. The Godox wireless system is built in as a commander and a slave, HSS is possible with every brand Godox supports, a modeling light and AF assist beam are present, and power is controllable from 1/1-1/256 in 1/10 stop increments. The Round Head

The Godox V1 is a powerful, feature-packed round-head flashgun, available in several versions, and very well priced

Notice the two gray-colored buttons between the “RST?” Well, these are the buttons used for resetting the Godox flash!

The second downside is that the shape of the head means it won't fit many speedlight specific modifiers. Softboxes like SMDV's Speedbox series do not accommodate this shape, and despite the magnets being present in the head itself, MagMod's kit doesn't fit either. Hopefully this will change like some gel kits have. Magnetic Modifiers The third benefit comes when using grids. By attaching a grid, we restrict the direction that our flash beam is able to travel in. The round shape of the V1's beam offers the ability to create spotlight-style lighting just like a studio strobe with a reflector and grid would. The major difference between this and most other speedlights, bar the aforementioned Profoto A1, is the round fresnel head. While not being the answer to all the issues we have when using speedlights, it does offer some benefits over standard rectangular heads. However, there are a couple of downsides to this shape as well. Of course it goes without saying that the V1 is fully compatible as both a master and a slave with all Godox products made in the last four years. This is one of the core strengths for Godox so it would be unthinkable that their flagship speedlight would not be compatible! With the bare flash pointed directly at my light meter, the V860II measured f/8.7 while the V1 measured f/8.8. Inside my 173cm umbrella, the V860II gave me f/8.7 and the V1 a solid f/8.5. Two-tenths of a stop never killed anyone. I'm really impressed with the size of the unit barely changing with these comparisons. Recycle Time The battery is a smaller capacity than the ever popular v860ii. I’ve found in practice I’m able to shoot two weddings per charge. Whereas the v860ii, I could easily get through three weddings before having to charge the battery.
