About this deal

Nevertheless, if the ending falls somewhat short of expectations, the journey to get there is thrilling. Game of Thrones isn’t afraid to throw you a surprise or two each season, sometimes several. This is a series where it feels like anything can happen… and that is a rare and wonderful thing indeed. HBO has released the complete series on Blu-ray previously, and Seasons One and Eight have been released on 4K Ultra HD as well (you can read our review of Season One here on The Bits). Now, after a long wait, the network has finally upgraded the rest of the series to 4K too. Introduced in 2011, Game of Thrones was one of HBO's flagship TV series before the final season aired in May 2019. It told the tale of the War of the Five Kings in the fictional realm of Westeros. For more than five consecutive years, the series rated as one of the most-watched fantasy series on television. Now, you can own your own copies of all the seasons in the Game of Thrones DVD collection. What does the Game of Thrones DVD box set include? Game of Thrones is a great television drama. It’s a series I actually resisted starting until the original Season One Blu-ray release. Then I ended up watching all ten episodes in a single sitting, and became a loyal viewer for the remainder of the series’ run. As such, I’m pleased to report that HBO has done Game of Thrones proud on Ultra HD. The image is improved, the sound is improved, and this is the most complete and comprehensive collection of extras to date. If you’re a fan of the show and you’ve made the leap to 4K, this set is a fine and worthy upgrade. It’s not cheap, so get it on sale if you can. Nevertheless, this release is very highly recommended. The extra 3-disc bonus set is excellent with a two-part “Game of Thrones Reunion” feature, Anatomy of a Scene” (for Seasons 4,5,6,7), “Behind the Scenes” (for Seasons 1, 2, 4, 5), “Inside the Visual Effects” (for Seasons 1-7) and “Season 7 Deleted Scenes”. There are similar features scattered throughout the sets and I have not viewed them all…yet.

All the original DVD extra bonus features provided are present along with several new features. Most are indeed “behind the scenes” video features, but some are text and still animation images, some are voiced-over by the characters (not sure these were provided by the actors or not) and some are just text you walk through and read. Nice extras but not as good as the bonus video features provided.Documentaries and exclusive interviews with actors and producers of the show, including A Song of Ice and Fire's George R.R. Martin. If you are having a similar issue with this products, it probably has something to do with your player. All the discs are region free, so don't be afraid of that.

The “Conquest & Rebellion” feature on disc 3 of the Bonus Features set is long (ten chapters) and yet quite interesting, though consisting of slightly animation-enhanced high quality static images and character voice-overs. (Again, perhaps not done by the actors.) Note that once you select a chapter the history continues to play through the following chapters unless you interrupt it (that is, you can’t play “one and done”.) I found it useful to have subtitles on during the feature. It gives a fairly thorough overview of the 300-400 years of history before the Game of Thrones timeline began.

Selected items are only available for delivery via the Royal Mail 48® service and other items are available for delivery using this service for a charge. Based on the fantasy book series A Song of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin, HBO’s Game of Thrones tells the story four great family Houses in the ancient, alternate world kingdom of Westeros—the Starks, the Lannisters, the Baratheons, and the Targaryens. Each of them is vying for power, for control of the kingdom’s Iron Throne, with political intrigue, bloodletting, and betrayal a-plenty. The weirwood tree animation at boot up of each disc is cute though it sometimes doesn’t get a chance to actually animate each time (your mileage may vary depending on your equipment.) But the momentary static “languages available” image at the start of each disc seems a bit unnecessary and maybe even a little irritating, but perhaps some may need it.

The Game of Thrones complete series box set collects every episode of the show (1–8), allowing you to visit (or revisit) the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The story, which focuses on the conflict for the Iron Throne, is told through the perspective of multiple characters: Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), and many others. Representing some of the Great Houses of the continent, these fan-favourite heroes and villains engage in violent clashes, both on the battlefield and in the halls of their castles. What most of them don’t realise is that there are greater threats than those directly before them; beyond the Wall (a 700-feet-tall fortification made of ice), the White Walkers are preparing their forces, waiting for the right time to venture north, and when they do, nobody — not commoner nor king — will be safe. How Much Is the Game of Thrones Box Set? The design of the discs could have been better, but it's elegant and clear with the content that is included. So that’s what you get in terms of special features. As you can clearly see, it’s a lot. And much of it is very good content indeed. The question you might be asking now is: What don’t you get? Game of Thrones DVD and Blu Ray sets are different due to the technical aspects involved in their production. In addition to these features:For some reason, the console is incapable of reading some 100gb UHD discs. In my case, the discs that didn't work were: S1-D1 / S2-D2 / S6-D1 / S6-D2 / S8-D1. For Series X users, I don't recommend you to buy this product if you use that console as your only blu ray 4k player. Starting with Season 4 and after “Dolby Atmos” audio support is available, although I don’t have the equipment to determine the difference. But the enhanced audio is certainly available. The Bonus Features set does not support Dolby Atmos (who cares?)
