The key components of this recall, other than the names of the products affected and the fact that these products weren't recalled in the U.S., appeared to be the fact that only one plant was impacted and that it only "accounts for around 7% of total volumes of Kinder products manufactured globally on a yearly basis." These facts were absent from the misleading Facebook reposts. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Ferrero also said it was suspending operations at its plant in Arlon, which it said will only reopen “once certified by the authorities”.
