About this deal

Have an exciting idea or concept you need to bring to life before sending it to the Ender 3 for printing? CAD software is a must-have, allowing you to model and design your very own objects and parts from scratch. Fusion 360 Sure, it's far from perfect. But at this lower price, it offers a decent print volume, is easy to assemble and improve, and can produce high-quality prints. After that are the assembly instructions, replete with small diagrams, some of them a little too small for comfortable viewing. (I used a magnifier when needed.) I was baffled by one diagram that showed a correct and a wrong way of connecting a nut and bolt; only when I magnified the diagram did I see its proper orientation. Instructions in the guide are cursory; I supplemented them by watching several third-party Ender-3 V2 assembly videos. If you do not have a model, you can get one from an online 3D model library called Thingiverse for free.

Creality includes its own 3D printing software, Creality Slicer, on an SD card that is included with the printer. It is very similar to the Cura open-source software that is widely used in 3D printing. I used both Creality Slicer and Cura in preparing files for printing on the Ender-3 V2, and I found both easy to use. The Ender-3 V2 is not included in Cura's pull-down menu of supported printers, but it worked fine when I chose a different Creality model, the Ender-3 Pro. Far from ballpark default settings, the profiles rival Creality Slicer for just how well they dial in the Ender 3’s performance. The instructions that come with the printer do not really cover some important things to note when assembling the printer. So, we’ve composed a list of helpful tips for assembling an Ender 3 Printer. Install the Z-axis slider, X-axis tensioner, and tighten the tensioner nut. Then, align the pulleys at both ends of the X-axis with the Z-axis profile rail and rotate the screw coupling to make the X-axis descend in a parallel fashion.

Setting Up the Printer

First, sand the print down with 120/200 grit coarse sandpaper. You can move up to 300 grit once the surface becomes smoother. You can also export models as STL files, ready to send for slicing, then on to the Ender 3 for printing. Ender 3 Software – 3D Printer Controller Application For best results, you might want to use Creality filaments on their printers. A good example is this roll of 1.75 mm PLA that came with our printer.

It comes with an official stamp of approval for Creality and is tuned perfectly for the Ender 3, removing the need to dive into the code to mold it to suit your printer. Though if we did this again, we would tweak the print settings to cover for the layer gaps and holes, you can clearly see from this layer height test that you get notably better results at 0.1mm, with less prominent layer lines – which the Ender 3 V2 Neo handles without too much issue. If you’ve used Cura before, you’ll notice that the Creality slicer software has a striking resemblance to Cura, and it’s basically exactly the same to use. The Ender 3 comes as a 3D printer kit, which means that it requires a decent amount of assembly. According to many users, it can take an hour or so if you have a good tutorial with you, but you want to take your time to make sure things work well. The slicer supports several 3D file formats, such as STL, 3MF, AMF, and OBJ files that you can drag and drop into a neat user interface. Material CompatibilityTurning it lets you cycle through the panel's four main functions—Print, Prepare, Control, and Info—and pressing it takes you to a submenu, from which you can enter a command. From the Prepare menu, you can preheat filament (there are menu items for heating PLA and ABS) and disable the stepper motors, which allows you to manually move the extruder and build platform. He also mentioned that the build surface it came with didn’t perform the best so he recommended getting your own surface like a Creality Magnetic Bed Surface or a Creality Glass Build Surface. Board Version: Creality V4.2.2 Board 32 Bit with TMC 2209 Driver Creality Ender 3 V2 3D Printer Review

They look identical at first glance. But when you look closely, you’ll immediately see the effects of layer height on the two prints. On the left halloween pumpkin, the layers are almost visible while the right one has a smoother texture to it. This pair of side cutters is constructed from heat treat carbon steel, which provides excellent cutting performance and durability. It also has ESD safe comfort grips that is constructed from oil resistant material. An important thing to realize about the Ender-3 V2 is that it comes as a kit. Creality doesn't sell a pre-assembled version. During setup, you bolt together or otherwise connect the parts mentioned above. Building the V2 is more involved than constructing the Original Prusa Mini—for which you bolt the Y-axis assembly to the base, attach the LCD screen and spool holder, and connect some cables, and then you're good to go. Assembling the V2 was akin to the build process for the AnyCubic Vyper, taking several hours for the basic construction and a few more in troubleshooting. Having all this at your fingertips may stir up worries of it being too daunting, but Fusion 360’s layout and interface won’t overwhelm or confuse you. They did mention that it took a lot longer than they thought to put it together, but it was still a fairly simply process. The Ender 3 is very popular for first-time users, and there are plenty of YouTube tutorials to help you get up and running.
