About this deal

Battery reporting is terrible, though. On some phones you’ll see a little battery icon in your notification bar, in others you won’t. I used BlueBatt to monitor the level, and the Cyrus show 60% charge just minutes before the battery dies.

The case feels relatively cheap, then, but the plastic at least keeps the weight down and there’s a useful charge indicator on the front. The LEDs light up when you put the Cyrus soundBuds 2 earphones in, to show they’re charging and the power remaining in the case. They also light up when you plug the case itself in, over USB-C. Three pairs of tips are included in the box, and a couple of sets of silicone hooks, which stabilise the Cyrus soundBuds 2 in your ears. They’re optional in theory, but the earpieces look like they’re missing a piece without them attached.Focused largely on their pristine, balanced sound quality and long-lasting comfort, the soundBuds2 are the ideal work-from-home headphones. They feature an impressive Bluetooth range of 10 metres and have a crystal-clear built-in microphone. You can easily move around the house (hands-free, of course) while you seamlessly switch between answering phone calls and listening to your favourite music.

Cyrus’ second-generation soundBuds2 ‘True wireless Stereo’ in-ear headphones build upon the solid foundations of the first iteration. Nevertheless, this transport box also fulfills an essential task with these Wireless In-ear Headphones, as it serves as a charging station that can be charged via microUSB port using a corresponding power supply unit or directly on a notebook. And since this transport box itself contains a 3.7 V 400 mAh lithium-ion battery, it functions as a mobile power bank that can be used for charging far away from the power outlet. However, for just a little extra outlay you could own the Award-winning Cambridge Audio Melomania 1s– and their claim to the throne has yet to be seriously challenged. Underneath it is another box containing the accessories for the Cyrus soundBuds, above all a bag containing two ear molds, so that with those that are already on the Cyrus soundBuds at the factory, a total of three of these parts are included. Also a transport case can be found here, which can be tied up with a strap. Tiny transport box…We switch to The Streets’ Fit But You Know It and while it’s a decent, relatively transparent listen, the difference in dynamics and bass depth are laid bare. It’s less exciting and entertaining than our comparison set, albeit at a more affordable price. Verdict

The Melomania 1s, meanwhile, are the current What Hi-Fi? Award-winners. Pricier than the TWS50s, they present a significant step up again, particularly for detail and timing. Verdict Before you actually use the Cyrus soundBuds, you should choose the best fitting variant from the unfortunately only three attachments, the so-called Ear Tips. The Cyrus soundBuds are made of silicone and have a special shape. This does not apply to the part that is pushed directly into the auditory canal, which is quite conventional. Instead, the Ear Tips of the Cyrus soundBuds have a kind of small bow that helps to hold the Cyrus soundBuds particularly securely in the ear, in this case they are “anchored” in the auricle. The manufacturer refers to this as soft hooks. You don’t have to worry that this could be annoying in any way; on the contrary, they offer excellent wearing comfort.

Write Your Own Review

SoundMagic has released a pair of true wireless in-ears that offer decent sound-per-pound value. If this is the extent of your budget, you’ll get a competitive battery life, one of the lightest and most comfortable earbuds we’ve tested to date and an expansive listen that betters the cheaper Cyrus soundBuds. Slight latency was noticeable with SBC, but not bad enough to put you off watching some YouTube or Netflix while travelling. Sound quality You’ll be disappointed to learn, then, that they fail to live up to these expectations – but not in every respect. The TWS50s also offer the option of listening in mono, on just one headphone, should you wish. It’s perhaps useful if you want to hear your surroundings (there’s no ANC onboard) or conserve the battery. These earphones don’t support any of the advanced aptX codecs, just standard SBC and AAC. But now Android supports AAC as standard, this is less of an issue than it once was. However, latency was actually lower with SBC in my OnePlus Nord test phone, so you might want to play around with the codecs to see which works best.
