About this deal

Our Customer Service Team is here to help answer any question you might have, from selecting the right product to how to use it. They're all great questions from our point of view. About the only issue we have with the set is that the blades are relatively heavy. Naturally, they aren't heavy enough to really make a significant difference but the weight difference compared to an average knife like that is noticeable enough, so we felt like pointing that out. The design of a butter knife will depend upon whether it is designed to cut, scrape or spread. Some knives are intended for all three functions. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a flat disc, then wrap and chill them for 1 hour. A butter knife is generally left next to the butter dish and commonly has a serrated blade to scrape the butter. It may have a sharp blade and pointed tip, to cut the butter and then spear the separated cube.

First and foremost, this little cutlery piece from Simpa comes equipped with a serrated blade. A design solution like that offers additional functionality. You can use it to slice a freshly prepared sandwich, ready-to-eat hot crumpet, or the richest, tastiest cream tea scone. The Spring Chef Dough Blender earned the top spot on this list thanks to its solid performance, ease of use, and comfortable handle. To perfectly blend together pasta doughs, we recommend the Gorilla Grip Pastry Dough Blender and Butter Cutter. This useful kitchen tool is known by three different names. The official name is “pastry blender," for the job it was originally designed to perform. Other names you may hear it referred to are “dough blender” and “pastry cutter" (although these are technically inaccurate). What can a pastry blender do? It can cut butter into pastry dough, mix biscuits (like Copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits) or cookie dough, smash up ground beef into pieces in a hot pan, mash cooked potatoes, and even help make good guacamole. It can mix a streusel topping, chop whole canned plum tomatoes into smaller pieces for a spaghetti sauce, dice boiled eggs for an egg salad, and blend the ingredients for hummus. Measuring 16 centimetres in length, the model is a little smaller than your average knife, making it perfect for scraping marmalades and jams from jars before spreading. Some may find the knife a little too short, especially the handle but we don't really have an issue with it.

Sift in the flour and custard powder and mix by hand to a crumbly dough. Bring the dough together with your hands and knead it gently on a lightly floured work surface until smooth. Do not overwork the biscuit dough. However, as the aforementioned blade is also micro-serrated, the knife can do a little bit more than that. You can use it for halving sandwiches, slicing tomatoes, removing crusts, and other similar kitchen tasks. Just try to avoid harder products because those may be a little too tough for the blade to handle. Make the biscuits. Beat the butter and sugar in a stand mixer fitted with the beater, on medium speed for 2-3 minutes, until light and creamy. Add the egg and vanilla and thoroughly mix.Place the biscuits on one of the lined baking sheets and chill them while you roll out the remaining dough to make 12 more custard cream biscuits. Chill the biscuits for 30 minutes and heat the oven to 170°C/150°C fan/325°F/Gas 3. The model's overall construction is nothing to complain about either. The stainless steel here is strong and durable and looks good on any kitchen table. It isn't susceptible to rust and it doesn't transfer flavours and odours between foods. Other than that, these knives are more or less similar to your average butter knives. That classic teardrop handle lets you cross coordinate them with your existing cutlery range. They are completely dishwasher safe and the whole thing comes with a 25-year warranty, so you know the people behind it mean business. Make the crème au beurre. Tip the sugar into a small pan, add 2 tablespoons of water and bring it to the boil. Boil the mixture until the temperature on the sugar thermometer reaches 115°C/239°F. Like a knife through butter, we've all heard the expression before. But guess what? It might be easy to cut the butter with any knife but it isn't always so easy and convenient to spread that butter on a toast afterward. Well, with a butter knife, things are a little different.
