About this deal

Le Tribute Gin was designed with the look of an old medicine container in mind. We think it achieves this in a beautiful and very stylish way! Also simply referred to as “dry gin,” this is the most traditional and most popular type of gin—and, despite its name, doesn’t actually have to be produced in England. It generally does, however, have to be made according to strict purity standards, which have origins in the 18th century and are meant to ensure the absence of toxic distillation byproducts.

In the run up to his PhD and post-doc studies in hematopoiesis (the formation of blood cell components from stem cells), Matt spent a summer at Cambridge University on a Royal Society internship studying bugs, specifically flies, and even more specifically, blue bottle flies. Under the microscope, he found the indigo wings of these household nuisances to shimmer intricate patterns of iridescence unique to the majesty of nature, patterns that people peeved by the pest do not perceive. Holding a glass of Blue Bottle Gin is like holding a piece of art; it’s a creation of human ingenuity and the abundance of nature. Aroma & Palate: Once a one-bottle brand, Aviation has expanded its portfolio to include Aviation Old Tom. It's the distillery's take on an old, sweeter style of gin, but they don't add sugars or flavorings, which is customary. Instead, they rely on whiskey barrel aging to bring out an Old Tom taste and accentuate the original Aviation's natural sweetness. Fun fact: the bottle design was inspired by an old Victorian hip flask found at Notting Hill Market!]Gin is now definitely a global spirit, with excellent examples being made everywhere from the U.S. to Mexico to Southeast Asia, and even the UK has seen an infusion of new gin distilleries. The best thing about this is that each spirit is an attempt to capture some essence of its geography, often using locally sourced botanicals to flavor what otherwise would essentially be, well, vodka. With so many bottles to choose from, we’ve broken down some of the best gins out there to try now by highlighting stellar examples of the new and old school. Here are some of the best gin brands available now, from traditional London dry to brand-new innovations.

Distilled since the 1870s, Tanqueray is now produced at Camron Bridge in Edinburgh, Scotland, one of Europe's largest distilleries. What's most amazing is that this four times distilled gin uses just four botanicals: juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, and licorice. Blue Bottle Gin is more than just a beverage; it is a story, from the world of meticulously selected botanicals to the majesty of the glass. It tells the account of a voyage in which workmanship has been mastered and tradition has been kept. Remember that, as you lift your glass of sapphire elixir, you are holding not only a spirit but also a record of artistic creation that connects the past and the present. Blue Bottle Gin is more than just a beverage; it’s a part of the epic story of gin’s history. Summary: Creating an Experience The “Blue Bottle Gin Chronicles: Aviation is produced in Portland, Oregon, by House Spirits Distillery. It is distilled from neutral grain spirit with 100 percent rye base, an unusual beginning in the gin market. It's flavored with juniper, anise seed, Elettaria cardamom, coriander, lavender, sweet orange peel, and sarsaparilla. It, too, is slightly overproofed, bottled at 42 percent ABV (84 proof), so it's not as delicate as it's often made out to be.Fun fact: the Monkey on the label is called Max, and whilst living in Berlin Zoo in post WW2 Germany The award-winning Blue Bottle Gin is another boutique gin distilled within the Island that draws inspiration from the beautiful coastline for its handcrafted taste. Alongside the traditional juniper, drinkers can delight in the tropical (almost coconut) scent of the local gorse flowers, which annually turn the Guernsey cliff tops into fields of bright gold. These flavours are complimented alongside the sweetness of nutmeg and hint of cubeb pepper. We love the shape of this bottle, as it’s completely unique and we’re yet to see another gin (or spirit) with a bottle like this. How We Met: I'll admit it. I was crushing on Gray Whale Gin long before ever trying the spirit, just after one look at that gorgeous blue bottle. I was already a fan of some other small-batch craft gins distilled in the U.S., but I was particularly intrigued by this gin's unconventional botanicals as well as the brand's incredibly rad, eco-friendly mission.
