When it comes to HD video, the Hisense U7QF is more than capable of upscaling for its 4K display. The classic British comedy Hot Fuzz looked sharp and detailed – with none of those grainy filters you often get with sub-standard upscaling – while also showing off the U7QF’s exceptional brightness control.Generally, it feels like Hisense is pushing the lows lower and the highs higher on its built-in speakers, and that’s a good thing. For now, though, you’ll still want external speakers. Hisense U7H review: Google TV and smart features The TV is being billed excellent for gaming. The fact that it has two HDMI 2.1 ports seems to confirm this, however note that it isn’t the lowest when it comes to input lag. Generally, it’s considered that a TV with less than 15ms of input lag is good enough for the majority of gaming situations, and the Hisense U7H just breezed under that at 14.6ms. Other gaming-focused features include VRR, ALLM, and Dolby Vision Gaming. I think gamers will be happy with what’s on offer here. The Hisense 50E77HQTUK QLED Gaming Series TV offers a wide range of picture settings, allowing users to customize their viewing experience. These settings include options for adjusting brightness, contrast, color temperature, and more. We’re now onto VIDAA U 5.0 and if there’s a difference between this version and previous one, then I’m not seeing it. That said, despite its plain appearance, there’s no argument about navigation and operation. The VIDAA interface is easy to use and there’s something to be said about an interface that settles for that level of simplicity. Disappointingly, there are fewer HDMI ports – three instead of four, but ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) are covered across all of them so you could plug a game console into any port and benefit from those features – though they are HDMI 2.0 ports, not 2.1 specified. eARC is supported on HDMI 2 for pass-through of lossless audio.
Unfortunately, there’s also a loss in terms of colour depth and accuracy. The crash scene on Xandar at the end of the film is a good place to spot this. The three way close-ups between the blue-faced Yondu, green-skinned Gamora and Peter Quill’s human complexion are off the mark. The balance between them is even but each feels slightly off the hue that they should be. Compared to the U7QF, the A7G is a downgrade in features. Where the U7Q had Full Array local dimming the A7G makes do without. It’s not a full house for HDR formats either, with the Hisense able to decode HDR10+ but not officially certified for it.
