About this deal

The "0" brightness level is still too bright for my photosensitive eyes. The lowest brightness in SDR for this monitor is 40 nits according to RTINGS.com, which I failed to consider before buying. At night, my workaround was using software like f.lux to dim the colors far below OSD minimum. However, it's very difficult to make the display look pleasant in pitch-dark environments, partially due to the screen's graininess (discussed later). As for daytime, I still keep the display near minimum brightness since my monitor is never in direct sunlight. We measured the screen in its ‘standard’ colour temp mode first: HDR Mode – Standard Colour Temp Setting

The latest OLED technology effectively eliminates motion blur for a new level of realism during fast-moving scenes and gameplay, while NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium certification ensures silky-smooth images That is, if I’m willing to work for it. Flexing the Flex means unclipping and pulling out a handle on each side of the display, then wrestling it into the desired position. It’s unsettling. The plastic rear panel squeaks and squawks while the entire display shakes. The process requires enough physical effort to feel dangerous to the monitor’s health. We calibrated the screen at a software level using Portrait Display’s Calman Ultimate software and our calibration tools.Allows you to manually set the display’s color temperature with sliders controlling the red, blue, and green levels My windows 10 laptop often blue-screens when connected to this monitor. This started happening since the second day of use, occurring shortly after the laptop wakes up from sleep mode while connected via HDMI. I've got a fairly recent graphics driver from Nvidia (it's newer than required by the monitor), so I doubt that's the issue. I don't know what causes this, but it might just be a Windows stability bug. My seven-year-old gaming laptop is probably not the best video source. Only use the accessories that are provided with the monitor or that which are recommended by the manufacturer. We switched to the other colour temp setting which is called ‘Default’, confusingly as it’s not actually the default setting for HDR mode at all! Maybe this should have been called “native” for the native panel white point? Anyway…

While LG and others also have their own monitors using this panel ( LG UltraGear 45GR95QE and Acer Predator X45), uniquely the Corsair screen offers a bendable screen as well! This allows you to switch between flat format, or curved, anywhere up to 800R if you want. This provides a great deal of flexibility for working, videos and gaming and sets this version apart from the competition so far (which are otherwise fixed curved models). As discussed in our detailed article about Response Time Testing – Pitfalls, Improvements and Updating Our Methodologywe are using an improved and more accurate method for capturing G2G response times and overshoot, based on figures that are more reflective to what you see visually on the screen in real-World usage. Our article linked above talks through why this is better and how we arrived at this improved method in much more detail. The screen comes out of the box in the ‘Standard’ preset mode and at a 75% brightness level. The ‘Brightness Stabilizer’ feature is turned off by default, so we will test without that here.Bendable format is unique and gives you a lot of flexibility for different uses and different games A 3.5mm audio output rounds out the connectivity, and is found on the front of the stand. The monitor doesn’t have speakers.

Aspect ratio is the ratio of width to height of an image or sSolid gaming monitor, I am not a content creator on this machine, but maybe I might buy another one in the future to hook it up to the Mac environment. The bendable nature of the screen comes in to play here as well, allowing you to set the curve as you wish. Different game genres and content looks better in different curvatures really. For example Racing and Flight simulators might feel best in 800R or 1000R curvatures. Games like FIFA soccer looks better flat or almost flat due to the distortion of the pitch lines. The bendable nature of this screen is unique in the market at the moment and gives you flexibility to customise the curve to your liking, to different game (and work) situations. That’s really nice to see, and we think could be a popular option for many people. Lane Mode allows up to 3440 x 1440 @ 240Hz resolution but reduces the speed of the USB Type-A ports to USB 2.0 We’d argue that reflections on glossy panel are likely to be far more problematic to most people than a small impact to the contrast ratio from an AG coating for what is at the end of the day specifically designed to be a desktop monitor. Remember, this isn’t designed to be a TV, it’s not designed to be used in a dark lounge with carefully controlled lighting for relaxing night time viewing. It’s designed to be used as your desktop monitor, throughout the day, in a normal lighting setup where you have windows, overhead lighting and lamps around.
