Our PC & Social learning spaces are located on level 5 in Pontio (you will need your ID card to access at times). We have material relating to the history of the University, from its foundations in 1896 up to the present day. Richards is one of four reading rooms in the Main Library. This is a quiet room. Please keep noise to a minimum when in here – whispered conversations only. Also, please don’t bring food or drink into this room. You are welcome to eat cold food on one of the sofas or at one of the bistro tables elsewhere in the building. You should not bring hot food into the building. Walk-in access to study and PC spaces is available in the Library, or if you would like to book a seat prior to your visit we have specific areas in the library which are pre-bookable for study tables, PCs, Macs and study rooms.App with over 4k magazines (english and other languages). Includes Dazed, Vogue, Elle, Good Housekeeping, Marie Claire, health and hobby magazines. The first thing I told my friends is, just go into the library. Don't wait for anything! Don't wait for someone to guide you don't wait for anything: just go. People don't realise the depth of resources the Library has. Welcome to Main Arts Building; within this building are various lecture rooms used for different subjects. The building is also connected to the Bangor University Library. In this Library, we have different rooms which hold books for various subjects and offer a place to read and study. Those rooms are: These stairs lead to different areas of the Library, those being Shankland reading room and Richard reading room. There is a poem called the College on the hill on the wall where the staircase is. The corridor is long and narrow to reach these two places. Book an online face-to-face personal appointment to get library help where you don't need to type as you can talk to someone. As part of the University of Bristol’s journey to a net-zero campus, the Library is taking part in a Climate Action Plan to work towards reducing our carbon emissions. This is in response to the Climate Emergency we are currently witnessing as a result of climate change. You can borrow a laptop from our self-service machine on the ground floor at Cambridge and Chelmsford for up to 3 hours.We want to build a collection which is inclusive of all members of our student community. We want to ensure it champions all voices, particularly those that are traditionally underrepresented in curricula and on reading lists. There is no direct access to/from the library via Main building (Lloyd reading room) on weekends. Please use the library's main entrance. Opening Hours This team is actively involved with all projects running across IT Services to ensure that the end user's perspective is always considered. The team is also responsible for maintaining and updating all student facing computing spaces to ensure that no shared computer is older than five years old. Main Arts also offers two computer rooms, those being CR1 and CR2. Lastly, it also has the Pritchard Jones Hall, which is where most graduation ceremonies are held. Everyone is welcome in the library, whether you're a member of the University, a visitor from another institution, or a member of the public.

We unearthed some silent footage from a 1969 library welcome video, and asked students and staff to remix it into a Halloween film trailer. The winning entry was by Erin McLeod, a Film Studies student from the School of ACT, and it is uploaded below in all its glory. This team provides in depth support for students and staff to:Whether you are brand new to York or you've been here for years, the library can be a lot to take in. We've got lots of guides to get you started. Shankland is our grandest reading room. It’s a quiet room – therefore no noise when in this room please, and, like other reading rooms, no food or drink in here either. It's OK to consume drinks and cold food in the sofa area immediately outside of Shankland. There is also plenty of space to work with your laptop/tablet with extensive Wifi and recharging points. You will need your ID card to access the library after 5pm weekdays, and throughout the weekend opening period. Most of our study seats can now be used on a walk-in basis by current students. This means that you will not need to book ahead of using them.
