We booked a table for 2 on Saturday night at 7:15 and although we were 15 minutes early, we were shown straight to our table. When we spoke to the person on the front of house, they reported a delay due to staff shortages in... the kitchen. However these did not manifest themselves and the service and food delivery was exactly what was expected. For the most reliable calabrese varieties, look for those with an RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM), which shows they performed exceptionally well in trials – see our list of AGM fruit and veg for recommended varieties of calabrese and many other crops. Calabrese and broccoli are two different crops, but they are often muddled up, with both plants widely referred to as broccoli. But in gardening terms there’s a clear distinction:

After out starters arrived, there was a 50 minute wait for the main course, which only... arrived when we reminded staff. You can also sow in autumn and overwinter the young plants in a greenhouse, to plant out the following spring for an early crop. The staff are efficient and attentive, including old hands Paul, Lucy, Karina and Alex, and Roxy, the energetic assistant manager, is a wonder to behold as she athletically circumnavigates the furniture. The only thing we weren't offered or that I think used to be on the tables were chilli oil which he asked for on his pizza. We didn't have desserts as we thought they were abit expensive for portion size as we didn't have a voucher and it was a Saturday so not offering a set menu.

The food was ok but nothing special, the lemon meringue pie wasn't good & the salad had the dressing on it already & it was drenched. The toilet downstairs always smells unpleasant which is not great if you're sitting close by. If your soil is very acidic, apply lime the previous winter to raise the pH and deter clubroot disease. Calabrese prefers soil with a pH of at least 6.8. Hats off to the Chefs who catered for my dietary needs - quite complicated especially in an Italian restaurant. Most amazing Gluten Free pizza. This should give reliable results, as seedlings are protected from harsh weather and pests such as slugs, however calabrese doesn’t like root disturbance, so take great care when transplanting. Sowing indoors is also preferable if you have clubroot disease in your soil, so the plants can develop a strong root system before being moved outside.
