About this deal

The 2-thread wrapped overlock stitch has one needle thread (left or right) and one looper thread – a lower looper thread.

I can’t vouch for the effectiveness of this idea, but I’ve read that treating thread with hair conditioner will help calm unruly fibers. Made with a surgical quality, they are great for a number of home sewing tasks, Use the Seam Ripper to easily dig in and take out stitches and seams. To use them this way, cut along the fabric edge with your shears, staying close to the actual edge (but avoiding the already unraveling threads). Some fraying will still occur, but it will be minimized by using this type of scissors known as pinking shears. This is an easy option to use and should help make your sewing time go smoother and be more enjoyable.Since no sewist wants any of those outcomes, keeping fraying to a bare minimum while working with fabric is essential.

Yep, with this baby there’s no need to trim excess seam allowance or make sure the edges are completely straight before sewing. Clean Finish Seams is a special type of seam that is sewn so that the raw edges of the fabric are not visible. Also, if you’re working with ribbons, Fray Check goes a long way in making those ribbon ends look good. If you have a sensitive nose, super glue may not smell as bad as some sewers have claimed Fray Check has. That is an ideal time to use this product as you do not want any loose threads around those very visible areas.

You can temporarily place the iron on the spot you just glued, but that is certainly not a long stay. This presser foot has a longer side that you can use as a guide to help you sew right up against the edge of the fabric. To use this method, simply set your sewing machine to a zigzag stitch and sew along the edge of the fabric. With shiny, semi-sheer, sheer, and gauzy materials, the glue can bleed through the surface and be visible through the fabric once it melts. It is easy to use and all you have to do is open the cap and poke a hole in the sealed top to get access to the contents.

If you’re working with 100% synthetic material (like polyester organza) and are dealing with fraying edges, you might have an option that seems surprising. Regular scotch tape is another product you have around the house and it will be a temporary fix at best. Works great for Ribbons I bought this to use on the ends of ribbons that I use on my homemade bookmarks. Ten if you own a serger, you can always handle fray at the same time you are cutting or simply stitch the edges closed so the threads do not loosen up. While it to dry clear, even its maker, Dritz, has said that this result is only true for most fabrics. You can read my detailed tutorial on how to use overcast presser feet and I also have a helpful YouTube video.
