Then I was hit by that ending and a big bravo as I did not see that coming at all. No spoilers here but it has to be read to be believed. While reading the comics in the newspaper, Greg found an ad that caught his eye. It was for Peachy Breeze ice cream and the ad mentions that they were looking for a new spokesperson. Greg claims he would be perfect for the job because he loves ice cream and would definitely miss school for fill his Peachy Breeze obligations. The only catch Greg could see is that Frank hates the Peachy Breeze ads so he won't be thrilled if he became the new spokesperson. Every time Frank sees the kid, he sends an angry letter to the company saying that the ads make him crazy, and he won't buy their products. A few weeks later, Frank gets a response in the mail and it's just free ice cream coupons.

Facebook had known in advance about the Russian attempt to interfere in the US elections in 2016. They could see all of the fake and Russian troll accounts spreading disinformation and they could even see the Russian accounts sending fake and leaked information to American journalists. However, they chose not to disclose this information to the US authorities. any Facebook employee has access to your personal information, including what you say in Facebook messenger to others. It was difficult at times to decide if I was on Melanie’s side or Peter’s. Was Melanie getting help in a mental health facility or was she being held against her will by her dad? The story is told from a mixed media point of view. Melanie’s perspective is told through the recordings released on Youtube and later her journal entries. It is clear that she is very distressed as she doesn’t know where she is, how long she’s been there and just wants to be with her sons. Melanie is clear about one thing in her narrative and that’s that she wants to leave but isn’t allowed to. Peter’s perspective is told during an interview where the person interviewing him is writing a book about his life but the book is now about Peter’s relationship with Melanie. Sprinkled in between are interviews from a Netflix documentary featuring Melanie’s friends including her best friend Nell, ex-husband Finn, acquaintances and journalists. Each viewpoint gives the story an added layer. On one hand Melanie was seen as a spoilt child, failed model, always found herself in trouble, but turned a corner when she founded her own cosmetics company but continued to struggle with her mental health. From the other perspective Peter is portrayed as a devoted father, dealing with an out of control daughter who was trying his best to look after Melanie and protect her. On the flip side some perspectives suggest Peter wasn’t a loving father but as controlling and someone who wanted to control Melanie’s life. I think Facebook's biggest problem is that they care about growth and money more than anything else. They'll eagerly treat Facebook users like lab rats if they can profit from it. The company is growing so fast that they can't keep up with the problems that come with rapid growth. This is the story of what happened to Melanie Lange: her rise to fame, her fall from grace, and her troubled relationship with her father – one of the wealthiest and most powerful businessmen in the world. This is the ugly truth of Melanie Lange.” Once one of Silicon Valley’s greatest success stories, Facebook has been under constant fire for the past five years, roiled by controversies and crises. It turns out that while the tech giant was connecting the world, they were also mishandling users’ data, spreading fake news, and amplifying dangerous, polarizing hate speech.

WOW.. I absolutely LOVED this book. I loved how the story is slowly unwrapped and revealed to the reader through different sources, reading the differing versions from the best friend, the father, the ex-husband, the friends, the followers, the public. In a European environment ruled by a polymorphous clutch of moral and religious rubrics, a large proportion of the population continues, for reasons which are essentially mysterious, to be fascinated by phenomena that are grotesque, monstrous or downright disgusting. The contemplation of medieval monstrosities can, no doubt, be paralleled by the popularity of Victorian freak shows, or, in the present day, our delight in the varieties of horror peddled through the cinema, TV and the computer screen. A startling thriller with a sharp edge. Fast and compelling, it leaves you gasping for breath' Daily MailPensa e poi pensa e poi pensa ancora e ancora e ancora, prima di condividere, se proprio non puoi fare a meno di Facebook. The Ugly Truth is a 2009 American romantic comedy film directed by Robert Luketic, written by Nicole Eastman, Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, and starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. Award-winning New York Times reporters Sheera Frenkel and Cecilia Kang unveil the tech story of our times in a riveting, behind-the-scenes exposé that offers the definitive account of Facebook’s fall from grace. A company, Cambridge Analytica, used online surveys through the Facebook app to gather personal information about millions of US users before the 2016 election. This information, which was not sold nor available to the public, was weaponized and turned into targeted political ads. When the men of the family couldn't do all the chores, Greg's mum gets domestic help, in other words a maid. But Greg doesn't like the maid as she doesn't do anything and eats all their junk food.
