The pad tops are made of very high density foam, for just a little bit of “give”, and the kinds of adjustment here are what you’ll find on some of the most expensive office chairs. Like, I’ve sat in chairs with footrest under my calves and closer to my knees, it was uncomfortable. I was hoping for a longer or adjustable footrest. The footrest is covered in the same velvet as on the sides of the chair, and I've got to say, having velvet on the footrest feels weird. I’m also not a huge fan of velvet. And it's not a plush velvet, either; it’s closer to a crushed thin velvet. The velvet makes the chair look more posh but doesn’t add to the feel. This may not be the best style for breathability, but it is for maintenance. You can give fake leather a wipe down, no problem. Comfier, breathable velour-type fabrics may be less easy to keep in shape.
We are fans of gaming chairs that recline an ostentatious amount. The Anda Seat Dark Demon can go from dead upright to 160-degree recline, so you’re almost lying flat. Bliss. Like the Kaiser 2, the Frontier XL looks suitable for tall guys with average builds. To verify that, we tested this chair with a slim 6’2″ model: A 6’2″ tall model in an AndaSeat Frontier XL chair.In over a year of use, I’ve only found two quibbles with this chair. First, people shorter than 5’9″ may find the seat too deep for their legs. The Kaiser 3 is an interesting alternative to the Titan for casual users without strict posture demands. Second, if you want to sit with sharp upright neutral postures, you’re better off buying a Titan Evo — or a high-end ergonomic office chair. However, most people choose gaming chairs because they don’t want to sit in formal, office-style postures. The Kaiser 3 best supports long desk work sessions with a more relaxed 110° recline. For best results, proper lumbar support usage makes a massive difference. Every time you sit down, lift your lumbar pillow a few inches higher than the seat. In a real test of durability, the Dark Demon came out on top as the steel frame refused to be dented or phased by my attempts to harm it. There’s no doubt the best thing about this chair is its toughness and solid build quality, just the sheer weight of it will tell you that much. The wheels on the Dark Demon are 60mm wide with durable PU rubber so offer added stability whilst also ensuring smooth movement in all directions on the carpet and solid floors.
AndaSeat says the Jungle can support gamers up to 6’5” and 265 pounds. However, the recommended height and weight are 5’0” - 6’0” and less than 211 pounds. AndaSeat has been designing and developing gaming chairs since 2007 so even this more budget-friendly option benefits from the company’s years of experience creating comfortable, ergonomic chairs. Aim for your lumbar support to hit just above your beltline. That’s all you need to ensure consistent good posture in this chair. The whole seat tilt issue is one of cost. But there’s a more fundamental design niggle in the Anda Seat Dark Demon too. It's worth noting this chair is for someone 5’9’’. I am 5’8” and the footrest is barely at my ankles. It sits more on my ankles and calves than it does on my ankles and feet. I don’t really know how I feel about the footrest, but it's probably not good. It depends on where you like your support to be. This is not something And a Seat has forgotten to put in, though. This higher grade of adjustability requires a more complicated, no doubt more expensive, base. It’s also made of the same kind of high-quality PVC leather material you would expect from those chairs, too.
Contrary to common belief, foam density doesn’t always equate to firmness. High-density foams can be soft, while low-density ones can be stiff. Therefore, my upper body is feeling leather and my legs are feeling velvet. That’s a bit too close to sensory overload for my liking. However, the gas lift is a little weak, meaning you need to take your entire weight off the seat before it will rise. Such gas lifts can lose their power over time too (we’re talking years here), and this isn't a great starting point. You can tell Anda Seat has previously manufactured race car seats for the likes of BMW and Mercedes Benz as the Dark Demon has a similar form factor compared to many racing-style chairs.
