What I’m bothered about is the fact that L is being played by American actor Keith Stanfield when in the story it is made clear that he spent much of his childhood in England, while his assistant Watari is still being played by an Asian actor, Paul Nakauchi. Initially sceptical of a prank, or a sick joke, he’s about to dismiss it from his mind, but curiosity urges him to pick it up, and try it out.

If you’ve never seen Death Note before, and you are an anime fan, I’ll say it again, you simply have to watch this show. Light decides what to do with the book: he opts to use it to make the world a better place, by killing wrong-doers. This includes, without limitation, direct loss, loss of business or profits (whether or not the loss of such profits was foreseeable, arose in the normal course of things or you have advised this Company of the possibility of such potential loss), damage caused to your computer, computer software, systems and programs and the data thereon or any other direct or indirect, consequential and incidental damages. Now, I personally don’t mind them changing the name of the character and setting the story in the USA.

This is a character that you can look at in so many different ways, and can develop so many different opinions on.Ultimately, there is that bit of us that is a bit like Light, in that at some point just about everyone, whether as a child or an adult, has thought of someone particularly bad and hoped they would die.
