One of my peers was talking about how the engineers working on her team were uninspired by her designs and frequently asked questions about them until she mocked up the long-term vision. It’s about creating trust, demonstrating effectiveness, and doing so in a way that’s compelling and convincing. By demonstrating confidence in your design choices and backing them up with evidence, you can establish a compelling case for your ideas and inspire confidence in your clients. For all the key decisions, we document and explain how it impacts the user experience and makes users’ journey easier. It’s beneficial for two people who share the same vocabulary to discuss their work and make each other better.Articulating design decisions is about creating an environment in which stakeholders can see the expertise and thought process of the designers so that they want to agree with them. Sessions can be scheduled all in one day, on separate days in the same week, or once a week for three weeks. Responding to design feedback requires you to form your words in a way that will yield the best response by staying focused on the goal of the meeting: to get support and agreement to move forward. It is important to listen to your stakeholders in these meetings to establish trust and to actually hear them out.
