The Lyons C clarinet and latterly the Clarineo is used by thousands of students throughout the world. Recently joined by the Nuvo flute and jSax, plastic woodwind instruments are opening up avenues that otherwise wouldn’t have existed.

The Dood is an educational version of the Clarinet. To succeed on this instruments, it is helpful if students practice 10-15 minutes every school day and essential that they treat the instrument with care! The reed in particular is fragile and if bent will make it impossible to play well. The jSax is lightweight and super-durable and is 100% waterproof making it very suitable for the classroom as well as a fun travel instrument.We also improved the jFlute head joint by replacing the curved head with the new innovative “donut” head joint. The “donut” is a neat solution that still shortens the reach while keeping the embouchure hole in line with the keys. This helps young starters to keep the flute balanced while also making it much easier to set up the flute for each lesson. You will be surprised and thrilled by the resonant tone from the “donut”. The Alto flute is the next extension downward of the Flute in C. It is characterized by its distinct, mellow tone in the lower portion of its range.

The set includes the NUVO Firstnote lip plate which can be used in the early lessons while the student is learning posture, fingering and playing simple tunes. Two Nuvo reeds, a fingering chart and an instrument case are included as part of the set. In time, the player can move on either to stronger Nuvo reeds or even traditional cane reeds - Eb clarinet reeds are also compatible with the mouthpiece. pBrass Instruments or Plastic ‘brass’ Instruments are a fantastic invention, resulting in many brass players accessing instruments they wouldn’t normally have had the chance to. They are great for children or for a beginner which is looking for a budget buy in the brass family and great for the school or education authority who want something that will last but at low cost. Manuscript Paper Manuscript paper enables students and professionals to write down music easily as the paper has staves on. Various options are available including pads, spiral bound, stitched books or tear-off sheets in all different sizes (A6, A5, A4 and A3). The instrument has a chromatic range of one octave. The DooD is supplied with the same mouthpiece usually found on the Nuvo Clarineo.

The jSax is pitched in C like all other NUVO instruments so it can play along with all WindStars music. It has a fully chromatic range from middle C to G in the next octave. For beginners with small fingers there is a set of plugs (training wheels!) which can be used to help seal the tone holes in the early days of learning. The jFlute is the perfect first flute choice for ages 4 to 10. It plays fully chromatically with standard flute fingering down to low D. It can be easily upgraded with our jFlute Upgrade Kit. which includes a straight head joint and C foot joint. The jFlute comes with the patented Firstnote lip plate as well as the standard lip plate. With the DooD, Nuvo has once again reinvented the rules and brought a new concept for woodwind music making to the market! This instrument allows young children to start taking their first steps with a single reed instrument earlier than would otherwise have been possible. The Nuvo TooT is very similar to a fife, and therefore makes a great choice for students hoping to eventually progress to playing the flute. As well as a traditional “flute-style” lip plate, the TooT is also supplied with a FirstNote lip plate. This helps with sound production in the early stages of playing, whilst the student is learning correct posture and fingering. Available in a range of bright, fun colours. The TooT comes with its own durable carry case, fingering chart and the two interchangeable lip plates. It is also waterproof, being made from plastic and silicone. This means it can be washed in warm water to keep clean, making it a great choice for younger players or a classroom environment!
