Kingdom Hearts is a series of action role-playing games developed by Square Enix and owned by The Walt Disney Company that serves as a crossover between its own original characters and the latter's film portfolio. The series follows the protagonist Sora as he travels across worlds from Disney with Donald and Goofy. Their goal is to stop the Heartless, monsters born from darkness, from invading each world by sealing their keyhole and restoring peace. On the Kingdom Hearts Tamagotchi, the user is tasked with raising Sora and other characters while keeping them safe from the Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed. Catch/Dodge: The user controls a platform at the bottom of the screen, moving it left with the A button or right with the B button. Depending on the game, the user must catch a falling object, avoid an incoming object, or both. On later models, special animations play at specified hours throughout the day, each inspired by the franchise the model is based on. These animations will stay on screen for three minutes before disappearing on their own. Pressing any button will end the animation, but in some cases may trigger an additional animation to play. A second version, the Jujutsutchi 0, was released in Japan in March 2023 and in the USA in July 2023.
Both the original and rereleased models were subject to a number of collaborations with other brands. The original models had shells made in collaboration with Japan Airlines, Lotte Corporation convenience stores, Fuji Television, McDonald's restaurants in Asia, Morinaga & Company, and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone. The tradition continued in 2023 with the rereleased models through the Tamagotchi Remix project, including collaboration shells with lifestyle brand Supreme, fashion designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, and music group FANTASTICS from EXILE TRIBE. A total of 28 different characters are available, including Sora's alternate forms. Kingdom Hearts Sora is always the initial character, and when certain requirements are met, he can evolve in various other characters. Each character can only evolve from one specific character; for example, Axel can only evolve from Kingdom Hearts II Sora.

Tourabutchi: Released in Japan in August 2022, this model is based on the video game franchise Touken Ranbu. Tamagotchi on the originals only make enough discipline calls to fill up the bar. Replicas have the Tamagotchi make more calls than necessary to give the user more chances to fill the bar, but missing a call will affect what adult the Tamagotchi will grow into, even when the bar is full. The icon is a syringe on all Japanese versions, and on all English generation 1 models. For English generation 2 models in 1997, it is a bottle of medicine with a spoon. On the 2017 rereleases, the icon is a syringe on all versions in all regions.
The Discipline icon is used to scold the Tamagotchi for misbehavior. Occasionally, the Tamagotchi will call for attention when its Hungry and Happy meters are not completely empty, and refuse to eat or play games. When this occurs, the user must use the Discipline icon. When used correctly, a special sound effect will play and the attention icon will turn off. Using the icon when the Tamagotchi is not misbehaving will cause it to lose a Happy heart. The amount of discipline the Tamagotchi receives directly affects what they grow up into. Each successful punishment adds 25% to the discipline meter, but the discipline level may be reduced by evolution. It was released in Japan on November 23, 1996 by Bandai, before eventually being released in North America on May 28, 1997 by Bandai America. A second version, also known as the New Species Discovered!! Tamagotchi ( 新種発見!!たまごっち Shinshu Hakken!! Tamagotchi) in Japan, was produced not long after featuring new characters and a new game. The two versions are differentiated officially as "Generation 1" and "Generation 2", and are colloquially referred to as the "P1" and "P2" respectively by fans. The Tamagotchi are a race of aliens from the far distant Tamagotchi Planet, described as being "millions of miles" from The Earth. They lived peacefully until one fateful day, when a disgruntled Oyajitchi made the Planet drink his bottle of sake, causing it to become drunk. With the Planet uninhabitable, the aliens fled aboard UFOs to find another planet to live on while waiting for their home to sober up. Spy x Family Tamagotchi: Released in Japan in December 2022 and in the USA in March 2023, this model is based on the anime and manga series Spy x Family. Pink Agaricus: The character will be fighting a pink agaricus. The user has 10 seconds to press the A button as much as they can to hit them.
