About this deal

For teaspoon (tsp) and tablespoon (tbsp) measurements, please use measuring spoons* and not the type of spoons you eat with. Again this will ensure accuracy and provide the best results. Place the unsalted butter and the golden syrup into a saucepan. Melt the ingredients over a low heat. Once the liquid has started to bubble, remove from the heat and add the chopped milk and dark chocolate and stir until melted. Melt the white chocolate in a bowl over a pan of barely simmering water (ensuring the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl), then pour over the top of the mixture in the tray. Crush your leftover Maltesers and sprinkle over the top. Leave the whole thing to set in the fridge for three hours or until set. The bars are fudgy with a sweet milk chocolate flavor and a hint of malt – just like you’d expect. They’re filled with Rice Bubbles (AKA Rice Krispies for everyone in North America), crushed biscuits, and chopped Maltesers for a texture that’s chewy and soft, but still filled with a little crunch. The chocolate on top helps to hold the bars together. Plus, I don’t think you can have a slice recipe with only 1 layer. Note: Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom for the ingredients quantities and full detailed method.

Chocolate – feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate. This recipe calls for a mix of white chocolate, smooth milk chocolate and dark chocolate. You can mix up the ratios to your taste, using white or dark chocolate, or a mix of the two, or just milk chocolate for example; but make sure you use the right overall amount of chocolate in the mixture. You will need either a 20x20cm or 32x22cm baking tin, baking paper to line the tin and a small palette knife to spread the chocolate over the traybake. Step 4: Using a clean heatproof bowl, gently melt the milk and dark chocolate together over a pan of simmering water. Do not add any other ingredients. Take off the heat and pour the melted chocolate evenly over the top of the Malteser Tiffin. There is no need to wait for the main Tiffin mixture to set before you add the topping. Once the mixture has melted and looks smooth, remove from the heat and leave for a minute or two (if the chocolate mixture is too hot, the Maltesers will melt) before tipping in the crushed biscuits and Maltesers, stirring well to combine.

Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double-boiler on the stove-top or in a Thermomix machine (refer to the recipe card below for instructions). Step 2 - Stir Through The Add-Ins Step 5: Scatter over with crushed and whole Maltesers. Gently press them down into the soft chocolate ensuring that they will set firmly once the chocolate topping has cooled completely. This recipe calls for malted milk biscuits, which work well with Maltesers. If you can’t get hold of malted milk biscuits, you can easily swap them for digestive biscuits. With their button shape and a range of flavours, the Maltesers Buttons brought something new to the line-up. The chocolate shapes are available in the classic Milk Chocolate flavour, as well as Dark Chocolate and Orange Chocolate flavours. Each given that signature malty crunchiness thanks to tiny bubbles throughout each and every button.
